i like the look of thse allenheads on Custom CAMO finished but do they in any ways, improve or alter the sound?
-
Sonically.that would depend on the material type, and the pickup.I think with the warpig,it helps to keep the strings a lil farther away from the magnet and coil, with a clearance of about 1mm from the top of the screw to the bottom of the string.Thats personal prefrence .Remember too,the screws conduct magnetic pull reguardless.Tim or Mr Oinker would know, and give you an explanation as to why they chose that type.

With BK's it is purely visual. I think they use mild steel for all the screws, and have a deeper head than the current Gibson screws (but the right depth for the old Gibson screws). My Warpig is finished in raw nickel and has normal BK screws, but the sound is just the same as other Warpigs I have heard.
With some other makers you might get a difference because of their materials.

I remember Steve saying something along the lines that the allen bolts on the warpigs are used to spread the magnetic field, and thats why you dont nee a 52mm in the bridge for floyd guitars with pigs.

I have a set of Caphead bolts on my Nailbomb! Look in the Black covers gallery...it's the last one! (http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/files/black_cap_head_117.jpg)

motormouth,
it's funny, i read your 1mm clearance message and thought 'oh, that sounds very close', so decided to maesure the clearance on both my les paul and my tele. both came out with 5-6mm on both bidge and neck pups... of course, my material is more indie with a bit of blues, so perhaps it's more 'desirable' to pick up some more 'body' noise in there..
interesting tho'!!

Yeah,im going for maximum output, just out of the range of false notes, with evil ententions ofcoarse!I have had the height farther, but i felt it took some of the hotter hormonics away, like being able to hit harms across the second frets, with little,or no effort at all.To bad there just isnt a button to push, and it would set the height automatically.

The allen bolts are the same size as screws, they don't affect the sound. The cap heads are much larger, they spread the magnetic field and will increase the bass.
