here we are - RR24, in white with real floyd, and nice ebony fingerboard, maple through neck with alder wings.
very unusual neck profile which is damn fast, really like it. i hesitate to use the words 'shred machine', but that description is appropriate.
it had an EMG81 in the bridge, which i've instantly swapped for the painkiller which was in my steinberger. haven't cranked it up yet, so can't comment on the tone yet. i don't think the 81 suited the guitar though - i was able to crank that.
previous owner had it strung with some pretty beefy strings, for D-standard. i've left it that way for now. i'll fit 11s and a d-tuna at some stage.
put a white cover on the painkiller - i think it looks quite stylish!

nice, I like how well the white pickup looks, I thought the neck profile was a typical Jackson thin neck?
it's a shame Jackson don't do any production 24 fret rhoads with a neck pickup, need those for creamy leads!!!
the black and yellow one has Alexi Laiho written all over it
-
I like that a lot

actually no idea! this is the first jackson i've owned, feels very different to any other guitar i've got. the rear profile is thin and flat.

theres a few jackson 'stars' rhoads with 24 frets and neck pickups... i agree about the alexi lahio comment - i would got further and say that the whole RR24 range is a bit of a rip off! but the guitar is nice, so i don't mean that in a bad way!

White Painkiller ftw!

I would have said the ESP/LTD ones were more of a rip off since its jacksons shape originally. I prefer the jackson ones over the ESP models

Awesome!

Wrong...but so right

+1 jacksons look alot nicer than the esp ones... and hows tha painkiller in it? looks coool (although i think id prefer it with a matt black cover....)

true, but jackson are clearly cashing in on the popularity of those model.
in general, the rhoads shape with a flash of colour on the bevels looks really great. genius idea, where ever it came from originally, maybe the 80s, i don't know...

my solos sound like they're burning
rhythm-wise i'm not so sure, sounds a bit artificial... i need to change the strings and set it up for E-standard - my perceptions are really skewed by the detuning and 70-gauge 6th string, which i am not used to.
in other word - i don't know for sure yet, but its not a disaster ;) anyway, the painkiller pisses on the EMG81 that was in it, and i can say that even now!

Looks good! So... how many V's now?!

i don't know anymore...
let see, here we go V-wise:
MIC hamer vector - 70s dimarzio super distortion/paf set
epiphone '58 - mule/stormy monday
epiphone gothic - original dirty fingers
gordon smith - b**ld*g humbucker size p90s (must get these rewound by Tim at some point, they aren't quite right)
gibson faded V - riff raffs
gibson v90 - holy diver
gibson '84 - original dirty fingers
feline vline - EMG81/60
jackson RR24 - painkiller
greco '67 - A5/4 mule set
i'm pretty sure thats all of them.. and if we count the steinberger GPs (which i do):
red spirit - cold sweat set
white rebuild - miracle man set
union jack rebuild - rebel yell (soon to be changed)
obviously I have BKPs in other guitars than my Vs

ye typical Jackson neck, love mine, widdle tastic!
don't the Jackson Stars cost the same as an RR1? not sure if that's before or after shipping
they come with a 70 gauge on the 6 string as stock?!!! what's it tuned to, I tried one years ago when they first came out, was in drop D if I remember right

Vinnie Vincent, Robin Crosby (Ratt) & the guy from Styper were among the early people to have the bevels on their Jacksons painted, although I think the Australian guitarist that invented the Kelly shape was the first.
Randy Rhoads had pinstripes rather than bevels on his original "concord" & the second one they build was plain black.

Nice guitar, glad you like it. IMHO the MiJ Jacksons represent great value for money. I love the Jackson neck profiles, that flat backed "U" shape just feels so nice.

this is a second hand one, it has ghs boomers, 11-70 fitted - hes tuned it to d-standard
not sure of Jackson Stars cost imported to UK. theres a couple on US ebay, but they don't all have 24 frets

Beautiful and pure !
Hope you'll have some great time with his queen !
Some years ago I had a KE1 Friedman signature (also fitted with one pup as standard). I decided to add a pup in the neck and it obviously opened more tonal fields. It was worth the cost for me !
