anyone else using IE8? - I stupidly went ahead and upgraded my browser, but it's not liking the BKP site. if a quote/response/quote respose type discussion is ongoing and lists for more than the standard window size you get to type in and the window scrolls down, the text jumps all over the place so you can't see what you're typing.
anyone know how to fix this, or how to go back to IE7 ????
-
I use Google Chrome, not used IE for ages now.
-
only one way to fix it...use chrome or Firefox, IE8 it's a nightmare. uninstall IE8 & download from here
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/ie7/

Eh? Somebody not using Firefox? What's wrong with you?
-
cheers all,
I took the plunge and am now using Chrome. Was using Firefox and while back, but IE7 displayed web pages a bit nicer (that's what happens when lasses get their claws into you, you turn pussy).
-
Haha, what do you think of chrome? My Dad said he was severely disappointed with it so I didn't even bother to be honest. Might still be worth a shot though, I don't know how trustworthy the old man is when it comes to web browsers...

hmm, Chrome seems ok, still getting used to it.
it rearranges your bookmarks alphabetically which is better imo and there's the option to put bookmark folders on the toolbar - thats really useful for me as I've got my two folders on the toolbar that I use most which is easier than wading knee-deep in 5+ years worth of bookmarked sites.
the control of cookies and such is really good too, wipes everything each day.
I think Chrome is still in it's infancy so it can only get better.

Firefox does all of those if you want it to.

Firefox does all of those if you want it to.
And IMO to a much higher standard.

I dunno, the point about cookie control is probably better in chrome, it has it in the interface, you don't have to delve into the config.

I also like how Chrome will keep running when you have multiple tabs open and something in one tab locks up - IE will just stop dead and do nothing and Firefox used to as well.
-
I wish I'd seen this thread before downloading IE8 last night....
It's all very well for you young'uns to laugh at us old geezers for thinking Firefox was just a Clint Eastwood film, but they hadn't even invented calculators when I was your age... etc etc.
Anyway, I'm now trying Google Chrome. Pretty impressed so far, it's much faster and the machine doesn't keep freezing every time I open more than one tab.

what about the abacus?!

A very underrated device, IMO. But it's in danger of being rendered obsolete by the slide rule.

Still experimenting with Google Chrome, but in any case I've uninstalled IE8 and gone back to IE7.
IE8 was $%ing up my antivirus/firewall and making everything unbelievably SLOOOOOOOW. What a piece of shite. :x

Nobody thought about using Safari? It works for PC.
Or am I missing out on something I should know?

The current build/RC of 'fox 3.5 is rather lovely.
-
My problem with firefox past version 2 is the annoying predictive bar that goes through all websites youve ever visited, bookmarks etc. I just dont need that, it clutters the screen for one and its just annoying to use.

It's the BEST feature imo!
You can remember article names etc, while forgetting the website, or get the website's name in the wrong order etc, it's bloody brilliant.

See if I find a site I think will be important I just bookmark it, my bookmarks are organised so I know where everything is..
I really hate the feature and wish you could just turn it off. Just adds clutter!
