dude wants to trade my mesa dual rec head for a lone star 2x12 combo.
on the ground thats the combo is worth more if i sell it.
good idea? bad idea?
-
I love the Lone Star...question: what Dual Rec (year..revision...black face?..serial number..)
close call, money wise-lonestar 2 x12..special? classic?
..I see dr's bringing 11-1300 USD..the Lonestar Combo's are in the same category if they arent custom color,etc..around 12-1300 usd
-the release of the Mark V could "stunt" the used market value of these for a while in the US
...lone stars are cool...(mk V has the LS voice for its clean channel...)
-
Apparently its a year old (the combo). with all the bits. ill find out what it is.
My Dual Rec i got preowned not sure about the serial. I think the guy i got it off may have said its a mk2. dunno if that just means it has the 3 channels or not.
its a standard finish. i have the mesa 6L6's and recto tubes and a mesa tube that was in the PI position.
has had the orange channel presence pot changed for a different value mesa part, but i have the original pot too.
-
apparently is the classic model in black
-
I like both, but I'd keep the DR as I prefer head + cab rigs over combos.
-
Well if the Lonestar sells better than the Recto, why doesn't the guy just sell the Lonestar and buy a Recto?

Being a slightly older semester, I like the font size on that site!

That is actually true. Make an advanced search and tick the box "completed listings".
These are some I get:

Afraid not :(
I spent ages trying to get rid of my 3 channel duel Rectifier. It was a year old, had a whole new set of tubes from Watford valves (which were a ton themselves) and came with all the paperwork, the most i could get for it was £900.
-
damn.
so.
worth trying with the lonestar combo for a bit more?
-
For what I play I have really liked the Lonestar thats just me

I sold a black Lonestar Classic 2x12 on ebay for £1,100 earlier this year. I did it as a buy it now rather than an auction and had a fair bit of interest. It was a great sounding amp, just that as a non-gigger it was overkill in my flat.
-
dude is coming saturday to get stuff swappaged.
gonna give the combo a blast and he's gonna check out the dual rec. also gonna make him be the first to test out my JCM800 now its almost finished. minus a couple of tweaks here and there.
-
Well you won't loose money on the trade, but really, just because it's a combo doesn't usually mean it's worth more.
You'd make more than you would with the dual anyway, mostly because there are loads of dual rec's around and not many lonestars.
