Title: Shipping a cab, any advice?
Post by: Adam.M on June 10, 2009, 08:17:47 PM
Okay guys, I need to ship a 2x12, I figure i'll just wrap it in bubble wrap and brown paper leaving the handle exposed to help the poor soul carrying it.

Any advice on who to use? or how much it'll cost? I don't trust the parcel force website itself, it gives me odd quotes that are either far less or far more at the post office!

I'd get some cardboard around it, appart from anything else I doubt a carrier will take it if it's not in a box. Only a guess though.

Parcelbroker.co.uk

I use the DHL option within that, and I have wrapped amps in bubblewrap

I wrapped a 2x12 up in some bubblewrap, then got some banana boxes from the supermarket, and used them to cover it all- nice strong corners, protects it really well :)

+1 to parcelbroker.

And +1 to putting some layer of cardboard over the bubblewrap.

I say you wrap it as well as humanly possible... like 20 layers of bubblewrap, 2 of cardboard, and then stuff it with money! (£50 notes are best)

You can get away with 5 layers of bubblewrap, then two or three layers of cardboard.  However, having BR/CB/BR/CB is better.  I've shipped all over the world using that method and no problems so far.
