I use the stagg stands and tape some old (clean) socks over the foam, and some tape over the foam rest at the top.

I would make a sexist comment about wives, except I do the washing, and she posts here too  :D

mine is a hercules, it has a tiny "arm" for resting the body against so the it hangs from the claw/hand thing from the top instead of sitting in the stand, good for those point guitars

I've got some in my bedroom, sadly though they're all on the floor mixed up with my dirty ones.  If you can't smell it from a foot away, it's clean

Quiklok uses rubber with bad carcinogenics in them, you can smell it actually. I have two of them and I'm gonna get rid of them eventually. If yuo have them, just make sure you don't touch the rubber parts with your hand.

I use these - they're great; very sturdy, robust, good looking and they pack away nice and small.

They put some tar chemical in the rubber to make it more flexible. It's usually only a problem with products imported from China.
EDIT: It's called rubber softener in English ;-) and includes chemicals such as phtalates, sulfides and stuff like that.
Basically, if it smells really strong you know it's not good.

I'm not very concerned though, I just thought I should mention it. Let's say it were flip-flops, I wouldn't want to wear them, but a guitar stand, meh....  - don't lick it :-) and try not to touch the rubber parts too much.
The stands from Warwick for example don't have this.

Mr's TM would say that it's "off gassing".  She knows about stuff like that.  I try not to have stuff like that in my house as a general rule.

It's the same as most people have traces of DDT in their bodies now.  Although it was banned here ages ago, supermarkets import fruit and veg from countries that can still use it.
