im thinking of applying
er, why ?
-
just for the crack like.
no reason.
I got made the head of a fictional church online once!
got a certificate printed out but i lost it.
-
applying? here they invite you (so you only choose to accept or no, you don't ask to go in)
and I'm not...
-
thats what i thought.
but apparently you can email them if you dont know anyone.
you tell them where you live and your name and where you work.
and then they get back to you.
I can imagine being followed from my home to work and stuff as they check up on me.
maybe i shouldnt have made this post!
-
Oh dear...

I have played a fair amount of Masonic gigs in my time (including one where I thought I would die laughing but that's another matter) and they always seemed like a decent bunch and yet you hear all these weird things about them. Apparently quite a few members of my family were Masons many years ago-no-one in recent years though. They do look after their own.
-
one of my ex's grand parents was one.
thats all i know of them. and the weird stories.
-
LONG LIVE THE TEMPLARS!

Hmm, that's what they always say about the Krays....

One of my grandfathers was.
Yeah... From what I've heard there was a bunch of weird shite, including political infighting in the lodge that he was a member of...
-
Lots of rumours about genuine satanism at the highest levels too. I'd recommend anyone to stay away.
-
Been asked, but fook that. Worse than voting Tory
I used to work in a Masonic Hall (behind the bar) and they're generally alright. Just a load of blokes getting pissed really.
Got to believe in a higher being though, which I don't, so they wouldn't/shouldn't let me in even if I wanted to.
-
once i founded a "lodge". we had our badges and secret military-like ranks. very exciting. but i was 7 years old, actually.

Learn and think for yourself. Make your own decisions. Don't let some religion do that for you.

The amount of misinformation in this thread is staggering. Stick to guitars!

Ah-ha! But then it could be a double bluff - saying there's misinformation when in fact someone is uncomfortably close to the truth! :?
I'm going for the "genuine satanism at the highest levels" bit... might explain why Akerc0cke wear those musty old suits. :o

Only my hairdresser knows for sure.

It's not a relegion, but a prerequist is that you believe in a higher being (of any relegion). Well traditionally that was the case, don't know if it still strickly is.
I was reading some books about the masons when one of mates was joining. All dates back to someone getting a kicking at the building of the Temple of Soloman I think. That's where the compass and hammer stuff comes in.
If anyone is in Bath, then have a good look at the Cresent next time you're there and see if you can spot the symbols.
-
Stuff like this intrigues me a lot. Anyone got any good websites/reading material that they can point me to. I don't believe in anything like this (or religion-wise) but I do like to read a good yarn.

What you're interested in sounds like esoterica, not necessarily Masonic teachings.

I saw Esoterica at download. Some hot girls told me to

I can only speak as I find, they were a good audience, paid without hassle and were very generous with drinks and food. I checked with my folks and the members in my family were all pre WW2 so no-one in living memory. Mrs 38th's Grandad was one though he died about 35 years ago. He was well known locally for his charitable work. I find it hard to believe that they were Satanists somehow but what do I know? I used to work with a fanatical conspiracy theorist and he had all kind of ideas about masons and used to go on about them a lot.
-
there is also the whole royal family & jack the ripper theory aint there.
-
I don't believe in anything like this
No, it really is true, the Freemasons do actually exist !!
-
Perhaps some amongst us might not be too afraid of 'satansim' at the highest order. In many ways, over-exuberant or ultra-evangelical Christianity, or ultra-hard-line Islam, or <insert more examples here ad nauseam> are just as bad. Perhaps I'm tainted with the regret of having lost potentially some of the best years of my life to wasting my time being a Christian Union rep and getting very involved in the church. I really, really wish I could have those years back.
So yeah, dodgy groups of people held together by shard spurious beliefs aren't top of my favourite list, funny handshakes or not.

i recommend avoidance. not because of the claimed satanism ritulas, but because of far more dangerous stuff, which you do not get to see at the lower levels, which is the boring stuff. and there's a freakload of freemasons in all echelons of governments.
it is not a religion and it should not be taken lightly. the're involved in far more than you might think
-
People are confusing Satanism with Luciferianism (and freemasonry with Gnosticism).

Oh well, c'est la vie, I failed the Pepsi Challenge too. And I can't believe it's not butter.

Indeed, they have their fingers in many pies. It is said that the President of the United States is actually NOT the President, the Masons are. They call all the shots and the President is their puppet. But what do I know? I am but a lowly mortal.
Or am I.... :euuuh:
-
i heard all the ex presidents and various world leaders worship an owl statue out the middle of some wood in america.

they think its athena you see, mugabi however now worships a small metal toy tank in some desert....

That sounds like the 'Cremation Of Care Ceremony'. I read a good book on CT called 'Them'. Its f*cking hilarious!!
Google The Bilderburg Group.
At the end of the day, wgf! If lots of people want to let their imaginations run riot and keep themselves awake at night about a load of bollocks then thats their problem. There was a good documentary made by the author of 'Them' Jon Ronson which shows how paranoid some folks get about people in power ect. Ok some things do happen that we could be concerned about but this type of thing does seem to have limitless boundrys. I mean look at that prat David Ike.

I had a good old chuckle at this, but I have to say that picture is not representative of any of the bands I've played in (n=3 only, admittedly).
