so i got a CS-3 and SD-1 over the course of the last weeks, and they're nice so far, but i can't help but think i could improve them just a bit
as far as CS-3 goes, i have a fairly hard attack so i find that it compresses a bit too fast for my tastes, i can hear it crush my attack a bit (it goes right after the guitar) but it could be my stupidity with compressors as i've only gotten used to it 2 weeks ago. currently i run the attack and sustain at 12 o'clock with the volume adjusted so it makes no difference if on or off, and a little bit of tone added. any suggestions?
i was looking at the monte allums opto plus mods. seems like it'll quieten down the pedal quite a bit and give a little less treble chop off. anyone used it?
and the SD-1 is nice and gives me the boost and bass tightening i need for my amp, but now i'm missing my mids. an EQ pedal is a plausible answer, but i've read that the SD-GT monte allums gives a sharper mid hump (i like my mids in the 500-630k range) any users of this mod as well?
they're very cheap but seem to get alot of rave reviews. plus i'm good with a soldering iron and desoldering braid so i can probably get away with it all :D

I've used the following mods:
The TR2 trem mod is nice - the volume control allows much more versatility - not sure the op amp change did anything though
the SD/TS mods are not that dramatic perhaps a 1-3% change in tone at best (to my ears)
I really like the tri mode DS1 mod - that is a dramatic change.
All in all - cheap mods, and give you pedal a minor lift, great service - so do it.

I have the CS3 opto plus mod - What can I say, it was easy to do, cheap, and it works!

the stock CS-3 is bullsh!t - get the monte allums mod and its great

CS3 mod kit ordered. i was debating on getting the SD-1 mod but i think a good EQ pedal in front or after the OD will be more effective than a simple mod in the SD-1

i have the sd-1 GT mod, it's ok, better than stock, more sounds in it. I dont think its in the ts-9 ball park though.

The Allums GE-7 is good - well worth investing that as an EQ.

i /heard/ uncertain things of the BYOC one. the allums GE-7 is better than the MXR one IMHO

I thought I needed to tweak my CS3 as I use it all the time, but I picked up a Hughes & Kettner Statesman yesterday (thanks Jez at Headline Distribution) and it works really well with that amp, whereas it used to sound rubbish with my Boogie Lonestar. Still interested in trying one of these mods though, although I very much doubt I could fit one myself!!

oh it sounds good allright, just that there's a bit of hiss here and there. pretty much like my SD-1 too. I'll probably get that mod after i get done with the CS-3. i've got a noise gate working decently enough but if i can kill noise at the source i will do it. and it's not like i overuse the units either! (SD-1 at 3 o clock for volume and drive at 9 o clock with tone at 12 o clock. and cs-3 is all 12 o clock...) and these are the only effects in my chain save for a wah which i'm bound to take apart one of these days and mod to hell and back :D
