OK, ok, I know, more money than sense, you don't need that much gear, you can only play one at a time etc.
But if you were holding this in your hands and someone says "I'll buy it for you" how long would you last? I struggled MANFULLY for at least five minutes (it felt like five minutes, was probably 5 seconds) before caving in to GAS.
This is a limited edition Gibson Les Paul Standard, built to 2008 specs in Feb 2009. Brimstone finish.

It plays really well, very powerful sounding, very crunchy in the mid range. I'm really loving this guitar!

Truly stunning!
-
I like the color. Reminds of those Harmony Rocket hollow bodies.
-
Cool!
-
That is a stunning Les Paul! I really like the look of Limited Edition Gibsons, most of the ones I've seen really stand out from the crowd and look stunning!
Congrats on the purchase!
-
It's a great colour! Somehow the black parts and gold hardware make it seem more like an LP Custom than a Standard.
-
Where did you get it from Rich ?
-
I love it, you must be a happy bunny.

Wow! Funky colour! Crying out for Cold Sweats methinks

+1.

We saw it on the website of The Guitar Store, liked the look of it so thought we'd go see it in the flesh as we wanted to go for a walk for some fresh air. We weren't planning to buy it, and were expecting it to play badly because whenever we find a nice looking guitar it never lives up to expectations. But this one did, and then Sue said she'd buy it for me... :o How am I supposed to resist that?

The Gibson pups are actually really good, so I'm in no hurry to change them yet. But if (when) I do I'll probably go Mules. We have Cold Sweats in an SG, so it's worth trying something different.
-
Wow,
I actually rather dislike Les Pauls, but that beauty is the exception!

So wait, your girl/wife does not only also play the guitar but buys your gear? Please say she doesnt also mow the lawn.... PLEASE!!!!
Anyway, love the guitar, hope the buzz lasts a long time 8)

I've never seen that colour before but I think it looks great... very classy and more custom than standard. Nice one :)

We don't have a lawn...
Yeah, the only downside is that she's also a much better player than me.

Btw,Ailean, are you playing together ,at home etc.? Should be fun to hear a VH4 full stack on the left and an Orange Rockerverb on the right ,no 8)?Beautiful LP !
-
Very nice!

Ah ok, though the backyard in the pics was your lawn. Obviously one will always be 'better' at something, thats a benefit in any kid of relationship. In my first gigging band i played with a girl, always seemed that she anticipated my clumbsyness alot better then when i played with guys in later bands/projects.
-
sweet :D
-
I really think that's the nicest LP I've seen - beautiful colour scheme.
Not particularly a LP fan, but that guitar could turn me...
-
That is a gorgeous guitar. :D I can understand why you gave in. I hope your wife/partner does too.

Yeah sorry, I should have said, I live in a flat, that grass is a 'communal' bit at the back, not much use for sunbathing but ok to take pics in :)
Thanks for all the positive comments, it's nice to know I'm not the only one who would have given in!
-
Gorgeous, you two should start a band!

Yeah yeah, I already got my ass kicked for that. Still sounds better than a quarter stack though!

Rather belatedly I would also like to express my liking for your new plank. That Missus of yours- she's a keeper eh?
-
Same here, lovely plank and missus... :D
(I have a similar missus who buys guitars for me... her only downside is that she doesn't play, and absolutely refuses to learn to play bass )

How unsporting, that's just not cricket!

Oh disgrace! There were TWO ladies who woulf fit that bill in the world, once a wise man told me... seems people get there first
Damn, only found girls said how idiot was spend big money in guitars if I don't play in a band or professional way... :(
-
I expect there is at least ONE more out there somewhere :)

Well.. my girlfriend has given me a Stagg strat (Tom Delonge sig copy, since First Date is our song), an EH Big Muff, and a Boss NS-2 in the past 3 years.. :D We're 19 and 20 now, so buying Gibby's is kind of out of the question but she's up there! :D

Reading my story above .. I think I'm owned as well haha!
Like a surprising many here; I'm generally not into LP's, but this is a real beauty!! The colour is gorgious!

You'll get there one day. We always spend more on each other than on ourselves, I know there is no way Sue would have bought that for herself, but she didn't even blink when offering to buy it for me.

Thanks :)
I'm really loving this guitar, I get a thrill just getting it out of the case! :D
