Title: Desert Island pedalboard
Post by: tomjackson on June 24, 2009, 07:48:32 AM
Okay, you can take a small pedalboard and 4 compact effects, what would be your effects?

Mine would be:-

Korg pitchblack
Xotic BB Preamp
Fulltone Deja 2
MXR Carbon Copy Delay

Remember I said compact so either something standard boss sized or if it rocks then a vox wah size.

Oh yeah, there's power, amps and guitars, tequilla and loads of fit birds on the island too

Eh?

I want to make a pedal board for my setup which is:

Diezel Columbus Midi Board
RMC3 Wah
Digitech Whammy
and I want to buy a Lehle looper.

Korg pitchblack tuner
HTH SD-1
Lovepedal pickle vibe
BYOC Triboost
simple but effective

Alchemist Amp Footswitch
MXR GT OD
Boss TU-2
Crybaby Classic

But that actually is the extent of my pedalboard at the moment (plus volume pedal)

Been eyeing the Deja up for a while. What's it like Tom - have you got any clips?

What I already have:

Lehle 3@1
MXR M134 Chorus (OK, it's slightly wider than a boss unit, but it's still only one effect in a single pedal, so I'm counting it!)
MXR M117R Flanger (ditto)
Morley Bad Horsie (I guess that's bigger than a Vox too, but I don't think MOrley should be penalised for other people's cr@ppy designs ;))

(OK, my pedalboard also has a Lehle Looper & MXR Phase 90, but I hardly ever use those & could easily manage without them...)

I think my dream four pedal board would be the one I have:

Fulltone DejaVibe
Crybaby wah
TS-808 Tubescreamer
MXR Carbon Copy Delay

I'd miss a Phase 90 but I'd survive. :)

For those wanting to know about the Dejavibe, it's a really lovely pedal, perfect for all your Hendrix/Trower requirements.  I also use mine on the vibrato setting for a fakey Leslie type effect.  For sounds listen to anything Robin Trower has recorded in the last few years as he uses one a lot.

Which is my pedalboard minus the rotovibe which rarely gets used

First I'd put an N-tune in my guitar and leave the Pitchblack at home. :)
then I'd take this:

Dunlop Crybaby From Hell
Boss SD-1 heavily modded
Boss GE-7
Boss DD-20 (I'd make it fit.. can't live without my DD-20)

There's a shiteeload of Pitchblacks here  8) because it rocks presumably! :D

I've too many pedals to chose from, I can't leave them behind. I'd have to swim home!

On second thought, I'd take:

- Soldering iron
- Solder (duh)
- a shoebox full of resistors, capacitors, opamps, transistors etc. and jacks
- a knife for carving out wooden hammond boxes
- 20 or so TB footswitches
- 20' of cable and 40 plugs.

That's fit in the same room! And I'll have something to do

Boss TU-2
Cry Baby Wah
T-Rex Replica
Some kind of looper

I surely would miss my Emma Reezafratzitz, but taking that there's a shiteload of amps on this Island I'll have to leave it behind  :(

Nah just wing it! And make it point to point .. maybe make a wooden plate, stick the parts' legs through and solder on the other side.. that would work. :)

Something i did forget though: a biiiig roll of wire ;)

My old Jen Wah, Fulltone RTO, MXR Phase 90 and Danelectro Reel Echo.  Being so old I don't need a tuner, if I could have a tuning fork it would be a plus, but I could get by without one!

Are there other guitarists on this desert island, who I can swap pedals with?

Yes to everybody who has replied will be there, no need to take another pitchblack.  Dont turn up with a Behringer bounty and expect to be swapping for Xotics and Fulltone though Tom

And I forgot to mention, Sounds Great may open a branch there also so take some cash :D
