First the good news (which outweighs the bad):
My partner and I are expecting our second child in November!
The bad news:
I'll be needing to sell some of my stuff to free up some room and get some cash together! I'll be putting some stuff up on seconds out in the next few days.
It's not the end of my gear buying days but I do need to be more careful and keep an eye out for bargains for a while!
-
Congrats, Ian - I have 2 boys, it's the perfect sized family for me!!!
Looking forward to your contributions to Seconds Out any time now!!!

Cheers mate - have a little girl, not really fussed about what the next one is as long as its healthy etc!
-
Congrats, I have two (Boy and Girl) and the restrictions it put on gear purchasing only seemed to be temporary.
-
Congratulations Ian :D
How old's your little girl? I have a 2 year old and a 6 month old boy, it is pretty hard but really good having 2 now and both so close together.
I'm currently selling stuff to make space after having my second on new years day. But it just means getting rid of stuff I don't use that much or in the case of a few acoustics I'm selling, guitars that are too loud for evening practise.
We could do with the cash but I can't bring myself to sell any of me best guitars so I'm retaining 3 electrics and 1 acoustic. The only way I'll sell one is to get something better!
I hardly had time to play at all when he was born until recently but I've managed to get a band together and we are having our first full band practise this Thursday :D
I bet if you sell stuff on ebay not all of the money will make it safely out of your paypal account :D

Cheers Tom - we've got a bit of a gap as Megan is 4 and a half. Would have been nice if they were closer but it's not a huge difference - also means Megan can help take part in looking after the baby.
I think I'll probably end up keeping two electrics (probably my strat and esquire) and listing the LP Copy (now with Mules :( ), old Tele (at a cheaper price than I wanted), Fulltone OCD, possibly my Shure SM-57 and maybe a few other things but haven't decided yet.
-
I haven't got any kids to list/compare/sympathise  , but congratulations Mr Price! :D
I think the good news far outweighs the bad!
-
Congratulations to both of you. Shame about the gear, but I'm sure the future will hold more gear for you.
-
Congratulations Ian!
My wife and i have 4 kids, one girl and 3 boys.
Somehow we seem to manage but its nice to have some stuff left to sell when the need is there, so dont sell too much!
Good luck and lotsa fun, Henk

Congrats. I have been there and have had to sell stuff for various reasons but being a Dad is the best "job" in the world and beats any gear hands down.
-
Congrats mate - all the best to you and your wife :)
Shame you're not selling the Esquire, I'd have snapped your hand off for it!
-
congratulations :)

Sahem you're not selling the Esquire, I'd have snapped your hand off for it!
I was waiting for that  It's a keeper for the time being but you'll be first on my list if I ever need to sell it. I think to satisy my GAS needs I'll get a certain amount of money together for the baby and look at funding a new amp with what is left over - hence my power scaling question in tech. As a result of this GAS my Laney may well be on seconds out soon!
-
Good luck with everything - hope it all goes well :)

I think a few of us are thinking the same thing..
YOU'RE SELLING YOUR TELECASTER!?!?! :(:(:(

Yep -. I's been in it's case ever since I bought the Esquire, apart fromtaking photos, and I haven't missed it for a second.

Congratulations Ian :D

Congrats to yourself and Mrs P.
I'm sure you will enjoy the guitar just as much with a bit less kit. And children are such a blessing that they are surely worth a bit of a sacrifice.

Indeed. That's the thought I'll have in my head when selling stuff.
-
Congratulations. Funny how things work out. you finally got the mules and now the axe is going, Still cannot blame you great news about your wife expecting. Do not sell too much, or at least thing very carefully about what you sell. It is funny how you can have a guitar that you have not played for a while, that as sat in the case for months that when it fianlly comes out you cannot put down.

Absolutely. I kind of already knew what guitars would go and in what order, unfortunately the tele and LP were first on the list. Bit of a shame as I have only just got the mules installed but these things happen.

Alright Ian how ya doin? congratulations on the new edition. Bummer about the gear now you'll have to get small guitars and mini stacks. Hoping to get to another meet sometime
All the best from the bleak north(Mackem land)

Cheers Keith - doing fine cheers. Definitely up for a meet in the (near) future!

Congrats Ian.
My first is due in about 8 weeks now and I'm thinking of getting rid of my Vox to someone who wants it. Not a money issue, but my house is so small that I need to make space more than anything else. My office has already gone and is now a nursary (but being honest when the little man is born, I'll be glad to actually go to work for a change rather than slobbing around the house pretending I'm working).
My brother and me were born just over 5 years apart and it didn't cause too many probems. Him being a tw@t caused all the problems
Congrats again dude.

Congrats Ian! :D
