I'm thinking about buying an ibanez rg320 which has basswood body and a maple top, making the sound closer to alder. How would this sound with some nailbombs?
I don't really want the sound to be overly bright, but overall balanced, I dont know whether I should get a mahogany guitar instead, but im worried that it might sound too middy, and compess some of those sharp highs. Would a ceramic magnet go better then?
I'm looking for a sound close to ash (tight, sharp and middy) , but as those guitars are way expensive, im looking for alternatives.
Ideas?

If thats the sound you want, youre better off getting painkillers for those woods, all things being equal.
But I'd avoid the rg320 - I've only played one, but it was horrible (odd, given that my 7321 is pretty good).

Oh, and welcome to the boards.

Basswood + Maple top is a very popular combination. If you have a maple neck and a rosewood fretboard, that is a very popular choise. Look at Suhr guitars and Tom Anderson.
I don't think the Nailbomb would be too bright, my brothers alder + all-maple neck strat has them. It sounds killer. It's articulate, warm, aggressive, but not piercing.
