testament
origin
nile
rodrigo y gabriella
derek trucks band
coldworker
lamb of god
bloodbath
alter bridge
karma to burn

you get the idea...possibly. Mainly metal, grooves are of paramount importance, varied suggestions welcome, but rifftastic relentlessly heavy metal is priority.

Whilst I listen most of those bands on there I've really no idea what to suggest.
Maybe try what I do... get Spotify, look up the bands your into and see what they say are similar. I've found a few jem's that way.
-
Thats a good suggestion, thanks.
-
I was going to suggest similar, but didn't know what you use over there. Here in the US we use Pandora.
-
Going on what you've listed, these are all essential.
Heavier
Gorod, Hour of Penance, Gojira, Decripit Birth, Hate Eternal, Morbid Angel, Cryptopsy, Soilent Green...
Gentler
A Storm Of Light, Jesu, Isis, This Will Destroy You, Explosions in the Sky, Red Sparrows, Pelican, Neurosis, Made Out Of Babies...
Stoner-y
Orange Goblin, Nebula, Unida, Desert Sessions, Fu Manchu...

Groove and Metal aren't two things I'd put together, so here's my suggestions on just the groove part
You're probably familiar with these but ya never know :p 8)
Parlimant/Funkadelic
Early Bootsy's Rubber band
Ian Dury - all!
Dalek - Abandoned
General Patton vs. The X-Ecutioners
Living Colour

Yeah I used to use that but it's US only now, very sad, I really liked that service...

Based on nfe's suggestion of ISIS and This Will Destroy You I'd suggest And So I Watch You From Afar.
Or how about busting out of your usual genres? Check out Aereogramme, Jetplane Landing, Hell is for Heroes and Mogwai. Just the bands I've been listening to lately.

Shattered Realm - Broken Ties, Spoken Lies
Mushmouth - Out To Win
Merauder - Master Killer
Leeway - Born To Expire (this is a MUST!)

Thanks for the replies chaps. Shame I couldnt give a comprehensive list; I already know (and like much of) this stuff. To be expected. There are enough mentioned that I havent heard to get some decent listening hours in though, so cheers :)
Hunter, to reply with a recommendation of my own; listen to soilwork, especially the earlier stuff; its what KSE want to be when they grow up :D
-
I do not see Steel Panther on that list.
I know you grew up on 80s stuff... Do it :D

Ah, I'll check it out.
For a little bit something different, I recommend "Amarok" from Mike Oldfield, it's really a crazy record but with some beautiful melodies and awesome harmonies, breaks and arrangements.

All nice and well, but I dont think I've heard a single atg song I liked. I forget what albums of them I have, I'll check later.

Slaughter of the Soul.
Which I actually think is their worst, but is the one that's ripped off wholesale non stop by all these "metalcore" acts.
