..Tele's are fecking fantastic :D
I've just been noddling around on my 'distinctive' (ahem) relic through my Martamp Deluxe, and I don't care if:
* it makes me attractive to men
* the bulbous bit causes offence to hobbits
* I pull stupid sex faces when I'm gigging
If I can only grab one guitar as the house is burning down, I'm getting more and more convinced that this is what I'd rush to save.
So to Roo, up yours!

:)
While I'm a Les Pual man myself, I have to say, Tele's sound awsome, nothing else like 'em.
You got Blackguards in that? If not I suggest a set, they make a tele sound more like a tele than a... um.... tele?
-
I see you turned to the side ashamed to show that T-shirt logo with such an abomination in your hands.

ashamed to show his own bands t-shirt.... that would be odd

I've got the stock Custom Shop pickups in it and I'm changing nothing - they're superb, as is the entire guitar.

:o Wash your mouth out!!!!
-
Hehe Jking you look like you having fun there !!! How long you had the Tele?
-
Go for it Dave, heed not what the Roomaster might say.
-
Yeah Dave - I'm in the club. You may well be GASing for an Esquire after the 22nd!!
-
AC DC sounds pretty darn good with a tele and a tweed amp - no loss of balls there: in fact, i'd say a tele can out Angus an SG in the right hands (unfortunately not mine!)
-
i like telecasters- i wouldn't want one as my only guitar, but assuming i'm allowed several, i'd have a tele in there.
-

Even before the Modern Eagle? :o
Not that I'd disagree!
(And assuming Mrs Twinfan has already been carried to safety by Kurt Russell or Saracen off of Gladiators, of course)
-
I love the look of a tele.
THe only problems I have with them are the necks and the poor upper fret access (I need all the help I can get !)
-
I think my hacked up mim tele would be what I'd save too. Even though I have a new love for SGs the tele still feels like a pair of old slippers when it's round my neck.
Plus the ladies think I look sexy when I rock it.

I've had the Tele about 12 months, and every time I get it out of the case to play it I always think it just feels 'right'. A great Tele is a fantastic instrument that covers lots of ground, as Elliot says.

If I could grab two, the Eagle would be in my other hand ;) There's just something about that Tele for me that makes it irreplacable. I think any Modern Eagle would be there or thereabouts and easier to replace.
Oh, and Mrs Twinfan would want to be rescued by Jensen Ackles from the TV series Supernatural....

That guy looks a LOT like my friend James! I'm going out with him tonight in fact. Bad luck though Mrs. Twinfan; he's gay!
-
I don't think Jensen is though ;)
-

Ah, but has he ever played a fireman?
God, I can't stand that programme! I love horror movies, but horror/supernatural TV series are always totally non-scary and waste far too much time on the characters' boring personal lives. :x
I did see the Ackles chap in My Bloody Valentine 3-D. The ladies may like him but he couldn't act his way out of a paper bag! :P
-
Yep .... there's something about Teles. My first 'real' guitar was a 1966 (not pre CBS unfortunately) white tele which I had to beg my parents to let me buy under a HP agreement. I use to keep it under the bed and if I woke up in the night I used to get it out the case just to look at it (yes I know...very sad). I painstakingly made a black pickguard for it out of a black floor tile in the hope I might be able to sound vaguely like Jeff Beck.... and before you ask, no it doesn't work
-
It's the interplay between him and his brother in the series that's great.
Oh, and the babes they bump into ;)

No, that's what I can't stand! It's getting to the point where I can't watch any American TV shows, they're all empty jibber-jabber, flashy camera work, paper-thin plots and actors who look like Ken and Barbie. No substance whatsoever.
-
Yeh but Supernatural has the IMPALA!
And great music.
And it's pretty funny to boot.
I wish I was as cool as Dean Winchester.
-
Funnily enough, I'm also reaching the conclusion that one of my teles is the one I'd save from the conflagration.
It should be the strat, it really should be, it might still be... but my black custom is kicking the @rse of every other guitar in the building.
-
That Tele looks awesome! Even though I am a Strat man myself I've always loved the look and sound of a Tele.

Did you catch the one where he did the "Eye Of The Tiger" thing? Classic!
-
I can't remember that one??? I liked the Back To The Future and Hammer Horror episodes of the latest series though!

Would look cool if you'd swing it lower, like badgermark does, need a long strap for that ...

That was utterly brilliant. I love Supernatural. Normally, it's just me and the Doris watching it on Sky+. Nice to know other people like it too!

Dave does use pretty long straps! When I tried his PRS at the London meet it was dangling round my knees.

Maybe that's because you have short feet :O)

I looked at the pic first thing I thought was "I'm sure Dave hangs his guitars a bit lower than that!!!"
someone needs to photoshop in a YMCA poster in the background for Roo

My straps are the longest I could find. I was interested in the fancy leather ones Dave was selling, but the max length was about 8 inches shorter than my shortest strap length. Plus I'm 6'4", the longer the better.

I have short everything!

Too much information Philly
-
I'm not particularly fond of the look of Telecasters, but I saw a band called Idiot3 (http://www.idiot3.co.uk/) supporting Ginger from the Wildhearts at a pub in Winchester, and their new (from what they said on the night) guitarist was playing a Tele through some form of Cornford combo. Awesome sound.

But, if you compile a top ten TV series of all time, they're likely all from the US (plus The Water Margin :)). Even if I do the top five from recent years, it's got to be Battlestar Galactica, Deadwood, The Sopranos, The West Wing and The Wire.
They churn out lots of mince, but the make lots of gold too.
EDIT: And the above are not the top five in my opinion only, they're the top five, fact.
-
Well, I'd have Homicide: Life On The Street in there, certainly. So I'd probably like The Wire, if I'd ever seen it.
And I did like The Sopranos, at least up until the last couple of series. And Oz.
And yes, The Water Margin would definitely be in my top ten! :D

It was the only I had at the time. I've got a better and longer one now ;)

I've just watched that episode - awesome!
-
I havent been able to get into The Wire for some reason. I dont know, I just dont like any of the characters yet.
-
keep watching tom
-
the wire is awesome.
in january i took a ride around the low rises from the first series and the corners in baltimore.
SCARY!
-
I've only got a few into S1, I dont think I have the willpower to watch much more when I dislike the characters

Stick at it Tom - it took me a good 5 episodes to start getting into it. I can honestly say it is my favourite ever TV series.
-
I like instant gratification, hence why I like Prison Break so much (well, the first 2 seasons were good then it started going downhill)
Will have to give it more time.
-
Well, Twinfan also likes AC/DC...
