... they could be invested worse than into this 6 channel monster which is a result of over 5 years of work of one of the best amp builders around:

It looks really like a joke, but having heard many amazing clips of the Fortin Bones, I have no doubt that all 6 channels are awesomeness!

way to many things on there would take me 5 years to work out

Tumeni Knobs.
As Steve Morse might or might not say.
-
"The audio path is switched via 42 relays with no solid state inline for a true 100% all tube analogue signal path"
42 relay contacts between you and the speaker - hardly a pure signal path.
Still the proof is in the pudding - if it sounds good, then it is good.
-
wow, that's a lot of knobs. and i'm used to engls...
-
I don't think the 42 will be ever in one signal path, will probably depend on which channel and configuration you use.
Midi switchable options, if the sound quality stays true, is a pretty cool thing though.
Tumeni knobs ... maybe. It really depends if all 6 channels really give distinctive tones. If they are just slight flavours of the same characteristic, then indeed pointless. Would have to try it to judge ...

I was thinking the same thing!
I like a playground-amplifier as much as the next frothing-at-the-mouth guitar geek, but that looks too much like a $%ing mixing desk.
Which I also like
But not as an amp!

Well, with 7 channels, assuming as many switches are needed for one channel as another, I guess 7 must be in use at once.
But I may be making a horrible mistake, since I just divided 42 by 6 and have no idea how amps are wired!
-
Must look pretty obscene though to have one of these behind you on stage
-
That is a lot but the JVM by Marshall is 'sort of' a 12 Channel amp. 4 Channels with three different voicings on each...

I'm sure it sound great but this is the level of complexity I look for in an amp

How about 2 Egnater M4s and a switcher = 16 channels of lovliness!

That's what i'm talking about!!!

I think perhaps that "tone" knob is gilding the lily.
-
so you got a clean channel, rhythm and lead... what use are the other 3?
-
I struggle to imagine why you would ever need more than two channels, an overdrive and a volume control.
Admittedly I have a three (well, sort of, a clean/crunch channel and a dirty channel) channel amp, but I think that's overdoing it.
-
I guess the people who own a six channel amp would be wondering why anyone would need an overdrive pedal ;) I think the amp looks cool, and will probably appeal to the Diezel crowd, but I'd never buy it. But then again, I'll probably never buy any tube amp again
-
I'll probably never buy any tube amp again
Why's that?
-
I'm just firmly on the digital bandwagon. I totally understand people gassing for amps, loving tubes, but I prefer the versatility, reliability, and tweakability of digital stuff. It also lets me keep my rig a lot more streamlined (ie, no massive pedalboard), and accomodates my ever-shifting tonal tastes better than anything short of a Diezel would.
-
Too many channels, too many knobs. It can't be good.
-
Christ on a stick, I'd forever be playing with my knobs.
-
It looks crazy but i think that it could be good for a working musician. I mean some pro have like two or three different amps or compromise with some digital stuff for versatility. So if it can really make different sounds that are good and usable it could kinda make sense.
However I agree with plexi ken to a certain extent, I do like a little more. Shared eq and a gain knob.

Things can always be topped:

Crikey! What's a whole lotta valves..!
-
That is just ridiculous. Give me a 50w/100w Single Channel Marshall and a boost pedal anyday of the week!

Wow, you can even roast a piece of ham where other amps would have a transformer.
-
you read my mind with the ham thing
-
Nice!
Imagine the current that thing is drawing! Hot hot!

I don't even want to think how long they spent in R&D tweaking that amp and doing the layout.

Yes I think it requires levels of dedication that border on insanity.
-
Think posted this before but this nutter is making a 1000w valve amp

I'm assuming that big transformer in the picture is the choke as the PT and OT needed for a 1000w valve amp would be HUGE!!!
JPF sent me a link to Champ Electronics and he has some pictures of massive valve amps he's built that were designed in racks with wheels fitted to allow transportation since it was too heavy to lift. I remember the Matamp 400w bass hed my bass player used to own - that was a two person job, I kid you not.
-
Yeah want to hear it from a mile away or so

for guitar it would be insane and you'd need at least four 300w 4x12 cabs if you were cranking it.
it would make a great bass amp as the amount of headroom would be massive - bet its a pokey fecker.
-
guy is a bass player so prob going to be for bass..he built a 4 or 500 watt one before when I went ages ago needed both of us to move it
-
OMG, here is a clip of Channel 6, I would say that is pretty BADASS!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kM7Svwuf0_8&fmt=18
-
It sounds lovely!
I would like a Fortin. Just a 2 channel amp but with the high gain channel sounding like that channel 6 clip. One day, but i bought the Egnater to try and make me just buy modules instead of actual amps.
-
That clip kinda sounds like a cr@ppy modeller's hi gain channel to me :x
-
Bah... Speechless
