Hi
I recently received a new cab to go with an egnater rebel (earcandy 2x8")
after about a week it either developed or I started noticing an annoying buzz (around 4200Hz) that responded harmonically to C and G notes when played clean in medium-high volumes.
Tightening all screws and changing locations did not help, and Tim (the guy from earcandy) said it is probably cone cry that developed in the braking in process and that he will send me a replacement speaker.
another week goes by and the buzz isn't there anymore. now I'm confused.
Has anybody had a similar experience with a new cab?
can you say if its gone for good?
thanks,
Ben

My Blackstar combo tends to buzz at high volumes, but it's not that loud, and not that much of a problem. It's something in the amp circuit that does it I think, and it goes away when i plug it into an extension cabinet.
If it comes back, try taking the rebel off of the cabinet, and see if it goes away.
Why do you think your buzz was around 4200Hz? I'm pretty sure that wouldn't sound like a buzz at all, that'd actually be quite a high note! (A C8 in fact!)

Did you do anything to your guitar within that week when the buzz went?

I recorded it and tried finding the buzz's frequency with a parametric EQ. that is where the EQ could enhance or eliminate the buzz.
also, if it was the speaker than it makes sense, because guitar speakers have a frequency response of up to about 5-5.5kHz.

I did nothing. one day it was there, the next it wasn't.
but coming to think of it now, the buzz was a bit harder to produce the day before it went away.
can it be some sort of weird braking-in phenomena?

update:
the buzz isn't gone. I just wasn't playing loud enough :( .
I'm going to get that replacement speaker and see if that helps.
