Alright folks, hows it going?
Quick semi-tech question: whats the benefit of having one coil hotter in a humbucker? Surely if you push it too far and one coils alot hotter, it wont buck hum any more? Are there examples of this in the BKP range? (one coil a fair bit hotter, not humbuckers not bucking hum ;))
And I just thought while typing: as I understand it the number of turns in each coil is what matters for hum cancelling (stop me now if thats wrong :)), so could you wind one coil with 5000 turns of one guage of wire and the other coil with 5000 of a different guage? If so what would be the point...I mean, errr...difference, benefit, drawback, whatever?

The VH2 has a big offset, but it's a very clear bright hot vintage tone, only a touch noisier though.
As for the other part - Tim has told me But I forget....I think it's DC and number of turns.

For a humbucker to 100% buck hum the number of turns need to be identical however offset coils(and I'm not suggesting huge offsets, say 300/400 turns max)allow ALOT more top end through. We're back to my earlier post on asymmetry.............noise isn't an issue with this type of offset unless you're a bat of course  but the gains are huge.
Mixed wire gauges...........this is a device often used by various manufacturers and has both benefits and drawbacks.Needless to say none of the humbuckers we make have mixed gauges, I personally don't think it works too well but I'm constantly experimenting and wouldn't rule out doing it....as usual my main concern is tonal benefit.....if it sounds good, I'm there :D !

Thanks guys!
