is that Pearly all the way through.. or does he take the V or an Esquire for some tracks?

I seem to recall reading somewhere that he used a few Fenders in the studio for the early albums.

didn't think he had Pearly on the first album, but Pearly is right there on the cover.

he had a late 50s Vee before Pearly, so I'd imagine that was used somewhere.

I'm had a quick listen through the album, and I can't hear any Esquire in there, though I wouldn't rule it out.

There seems to be two setups - one with a much thicker tone, and another with a brighter tone.  Maybe he just changed amps, or maybe its the guitars - hard to say.

I thought he had an Explorer - an original that he got for a couple of hundred dollars because it had been in the store since 1958!
