Title: Roland GR-09
Post by: MrBump on July 19, 2009, 09:57:54 AM
Anyone here own or use a guitar synth?

I've never really played on, but I'm starting to think that I might like to...  I use a MIDI controller keyboard, mostly to trigger drum samples in Cakewalk, but if the technology has caught up with the playing I might investigate synths...

Mark.

We just fitted a full Graph tech ghost system to an old Roland GR505 this week - worked a treat
Same system we fitted to Johnny Mac's Custom Feline Lion guitar
I think tracking is very fast - especially as the piezo system interprets the frequency of the note a touch faster than the magnetic pickup version IMO

I have a spare Variax 700 (blue) that has had all its circuitry removed , but am contemplating adding a Ghost Midi system to what remains - could be interesting thing to do to it.

I haven't tried the GR-09, but should be good as the converters and modules have come on a long way too over the years

J Mac has the Axon system I think which is supposed to be the business.

I'm in the process of getting a synth pickup put in one of my Parker Flys. I'm buying an Axon AX100 mk2 to use with it. There're some pretty cool youtube vids of it in action :) I should be able to give you a review in a month or so

The Roland GR 20 guitar synth system seems pretty nice - and comes with the pickup and blend control - the downside  is that they have jumped in price from under £300 at the beginning of the year to around £480 - £500 now  :(
