Title: Help with BKP Painkillers
Post by: Stitch on July 21, 2009, 09:04:04 PM
Hello everyone! I'm very sorry my first post is one begging for help...

I recently ordered a set of heavily distressed BKP painkillers from Tim, and, upon installing them into my RGA I found I couldn't get them to sound 'right'. They were replacing a set of Seymour Duncans (Jazz & JB) with the standard Ibby 5-way.

After getting my head around the complete opposite colour codes I plumbed in and installed them, and on first pass the clue that something was up was that position 4 had inside bridge coil and outside neck coil. The bridge pickup also sounds out of phasey and thin, while position two is much louder.

After a second look I showed it to the other guitar tech in my old work and we've taken another look, even tried wiring each pickup individually, but I can't figure out whats going wrong.

Phils description was that the bridge sounded thin and out-of-phase while the neck pickup sounds like 'mega bassy and fuzzy like a tuba under a blanket'...

Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum.

Could you post a picture or a diagram of your wiring?

hey man, will do! I'm moving house just now over the weekend so I won't really get a chance to. I'll do it early next week if that is ok?
