I'm gig testing at the moment..............this stage usually takes 6 months as I work through all the prototypes and constantly re-evaluate.
It's called a Painkiller humbucker and I'm voicing it for some serious mid range precence.....unlike the Nailbomb that has quite a sweet vintage element this one will be even more in your face.It is ceramic based but not like anything we've done before(or anyone else!)...........expect it to come into the range just after xmas.
I won't say anymore as I have to be 100% sure of the voicing before I include it into the BKP range and that involves a lot of play testing so that ultimately I know it will do what I want and what it'll say on the box.

So it's going to have a Judas Priest kind of sound?

wicked.

Not totally....remeber I like to indulge in the 'vibe' rather than replicate one tone.............when I listen to Painkiller I want to run around the walls and go mental it's so heavy..........that's the vibe I'm trying to capture....serious silly grin :D !

Hummm , it sounds like the pickup i was making questions a few months when i join the forum

Tight Bass(more or equally tight as the MM?)
a LOT OF Middles(Excellent. ahahahah)
What about the Highs? can you tell me how they wilçl sound like? just an idea. I hope there´s enough highs to balance with the tight bass and lots of mids

BK already make the perfect NWOBHM pickup: the VHII.
This sounds like it's a more powermetal type of tone; should sound great in a Jackson, ESP, or Charvel thru an Engl Powerball ... now we know why Tim's got himself an Engl!!!!  PDT_006

Sounds like it's gonna be a killer pickup, and not a moment too soon!

Well, if we're talking about the "classic" age of metal, from which the namesake Painkiller comes, most American metal was very midrange scooped at that time: Metallica, Anthrax, Exodus, etc. The UK bands, like Priest, Maiden (except for the Jannick era), and others relied on that big, mean, midrange peak to melt your face off.

I've spoken a little with Tim about the PK, (hmmm, the BK PK...has a certain ring) and its a very powerfull pickup, sounds to me like easily modern output levels but with an old school brit metal JCM800-y vibe.  The defining thing seems to be its mids.

If the Painkiller has a similar midrange signature to the Crawler, I might want one for the Dean Z I'm GAS-ing for.

I'm anxious to buy my first BKP pickup, I almost ordered the Nalbomb but when I read this thread I'm going to wait for the PK, I believe it will blow people's head off!

same here -  I'm torn between the MM, Nailbomb and Warpig - now this Painkiller is thrown into the mix & sounds right up my street.

I think BKP need more sound clips showing what each pickup can do - just like the MM and Mule ones (which rocked incidently)
