After literally years of faffing I finally got round to getting some more BKP's ...
Painkiller Bridge on order for my PRS SE Singlecut
Blackguard Flat 50 set on order for my Baja Telecaster (which is also being treated to a new 6-saddle bridge plate at the same time)
In the end I just mailed Tim with what sounds I wanted and went with what he said (rule no.1!!) - as I was changing my mind about twice a week (for the PRS I have nearly bought Abraxas, Mules, Riff Raffs, Cold Sweats over the past 18 months ...). Once again amazed by the customer service from the BKP chaps - so good to get opinion from the horses mouth :)
The PRS Neck can wait for another day - I suspect once I get the PK in the bridge the neck position will become redundant anyway as I only play metal rhythm stuff
Also ordered a full set of ClearTone cables for my rig ... can't wait for it all to arrive. Am particularly excited about the PK, never had a ceramic pup before, and from all the clips I've listened to it sounds amazing!
The waiting for the mail begins!

The flat 50's are mint, I was playing mine at practise the other day before the band got there with my amp on 10, on the bridge pickup and it was just a thick wall of cutting harmonics. Sweet as anything, the mix is funky and hollow and the neck is rich and jazzy. As a strat lover all my life to say the neck pickup is one of the richest I've heard is saying something!
But they only sound as good as your amp, don't expect a pocket pod to do any justice for the bridge pickup - it really needs 20 - 40 Fender watts of BF or Tweed to sound it's best....

Yeah - I upgraded from an SS amp to a Valve amp over christmas, and ever since then my 1 BKP'd guitar has sounded twice as good as my other non-BKP'd guitars ... looking forwards to them all sounding great soon :)
Trying to decide whether to upgrade the electrics around the Painkiller at the same time - or maybe just wire it straight to the jack ... anyone here with a PK use 1M pots? or is the PK fine with 500K pots?

You're gonna love the BG. I can't put my Tele down these days...

Although the Painkillers didn't do what I wanted them to, they are the reason I actually like ceramic pickups now.
For years I thought all ceramics sounded like the Gibson ones and I stayed as far away from them as possible.
As for the Blackguard that's my favourite Tele pickup and that's saying something!
Prior to the Blackguards I swore by the Fender Custom Shop Nocaster pickups and couldn't believe there was something better than them.
So congrats!

Feeling the Blackguard love now guys ... post can't arrive soon enough!
Does remind me I need to buy a new soldering iron ...
