I'm sure this topic has come up before, but I hope someone will answer it (again) or maybe direct me to a earlier thread with same theme.
I have the possibillity of buying a Nailbomb second hand, but I'm not really sure if it fit my bill. It will be going in a LP copy mahogany body, Flamed maple top... a classic LP. I mostly play various genres of rock so normally I wouldn't be looking at the contemporary range of pickups and the Nailbomb might be overkill.
Anyway back to business. Can the Nailbomb work as a rock pickup and do classic to modern hard rock? And will it be able to do the blues as well or should I just stick to vintage/vintage hot pickups?

Yes, imho it covers those styles very well, I use mine is a LP standard for everything from Gary Moore to Guns N Roses to Metallica. It works great as a Rock pickup if you can deal with it being a hot and agressive pickup...

totally agree with Dime

What I've found with the Nailbomb is that it can sound quite "classic" if you just roll the volume back a little. With a good high-ish gain setting, you can roll it back to get nice crunch going.
Mark.

Well... I just bought the Nailbomb and I'm now looking foreward to installing it. Hopefully I'll get a chance to do it this weekend. I just can't wait to hear the bugger! :D
