Title: My old PRS SC245
Post by: Ian Price on July 29, 2009, 10:06:57 PM
Just trawling through some old photos and came across this photo of Eddie Kramer with my old PRS (this was before I bought it!)

It was a very nice SC - shouldn't really have sold it but never mind. Although I am pretty much anti-humbucker now the Modern Eagle I tried recently has started to change my opinion a little (although that was probably more to do with the guitar)

I didn't know you'd ever had an SC245 Ian.

Tell us the story!  :)

Great pic, and a nice looking guitar Ian!

You should buy an aged Pearly gates replica, then we can time-share each other's guitars  ;)

Yeah - I didn't own it for long as I felt guilty about spalshing £1500 out on it. Basically it was Rob Chapman's old PRS, he sold it after leaving PRS for ESP.

It is a great sounding and playing guitar - I think also knowing it's history somehow made me feel like I wasn't worthy of it! Kind of like knowing your new girlfriend was previously with a porn star. I know Rob isn't everyone's cup of tea (I don't like his new shreddy style stuff) but he was a genuinely nice guy to chat to.

Here's a vid of the SC in action.

 I somehow don't think I could afford it - got to get the MJW first and then figure out if I am going to remain a one guitar person!

Hmmm, dodgy analogy... but I guess I know what you mean.  :?

Just looking at the pic again and I think the finish looks awesome under that light.

I need another one!

I know - very dissappointed with myself  :x. I'll cheer myself up by playing the Esquire  :P

Looking back I should never have sold this one, the 335, the MIJ '62 Custom tele, the LP standard.......... The list goes on and on.

I'll resolve myself to accepting that I'm not a les paul man. This may soften the blow for me.

Never look back when you sell a guitar, Ian!  Or at least try not to!  :P

Good advice Philly - I'll bear that in mind!

Hmmm, I dunno...  :?

I'm not sure if it really has the Vigier "look".  It's more like a hybrid of a PRS, a Dean Soltero and all those blingy brands Ed Roman sells.

I like that "all those blingy brands..." - I've always thought that too...
