Title: Another custom cover idea.
Post by: Ratrod on October 31, 2005, 01:17:33 PM
I got this idea from American Chopper on Discovery.

Make a design (flames, checkered flag, band logo, whatever) and transfer it to some masking film. Cut out the design and stick it to the pickup cover. Then mildly sandblast the cover. Take off the masking film. The cover will get a matte chrome finish while the design is shiny.

What do you think?

Here's a pic of the idea. See the velocity stack and the rocker covers.

Nah...i dont like it. Its not the lamest idea i've ever heard, although i ended up voting that as the closest to my thoughts. I just prefer the pickups to be big bold blocks of colour underneath the strings, rather than some fancy illustrated thing!

Sorry ratrod!

That's quite a cool idea, but can practically be done with engraving...
