Lovely stuff - I like John 5 to. Very knowledgable and respectful of guitars. Two things did shock me about that vieo though:

1 He sold a collection of Kiss posters for $75000!!!!
2 He had a Dean Razorback in amongst all those teles  :o

Probably good for him that he left Marilyn Manson when he did - I understand he was awful at Download.

He sort of reminds me of an uncle of mine. Given half a chance he'll take you on a tour of his posssessions saying

This is my stereo. 350 pounds. This is my montblanc. 400 pounds. This is my....

And it just goes on like that.

Tell me what you like about it, tell me why its good, dont tell me how much it costs and why its expensive!

Seems like a nice chap though.

I really enjoyed that clip BUT please, I'm getting GAS really bad and I'm thinking of building a Tele project!

John 5 seem a good bloke and I'd really like him much more if I met him on "dress down Friday" and could have a chat without all the stage mascara.

As for him mentioning the values, we want to know. It's interesting and as market value is much a part of any collection as the items themselves.

Mr & Mrs 5 must be proud of their boy.

yes, we all want to know the values!

if i suddenly became a rich rock star i'd be straight out to buy a '58 Korina V, kudos to him he has a mint broadcaster - he knows what he likes, and he knows whats good!

Not if I get there first!

But you're far more likely to become a rich rock star, so I shall have to keep my fingers crossed for the Lottery.  And if push comes to shove I'd be prepared to make do with a Hamer Vector Korina.

Mr & Mrs 5 must be proud of their boy.

It must be difficult for parents of any age, but especially those of an older generation, when they find out their son likes....

you get the idea.

I can totally understand the collector mentality - God knows I suffer from it myself.

But I really can't imagine collecting 60-year-old mint-condition guitars at $100,000 a pop and keeping them in their cases.  Even if I had an infinite amount of money.  I'd rather have a nice new relic.

It was the 'mint one from every year' mentality that got me!

And you have to wonder, are any of them fakes????  :o

Whilst watching this video I was wondering at all if he would be interested in my Tele. I very much doubt it as it is in by no means a mint condition.

They could be fakes but I suspect he has loads of knowledge about Fender - and possible people that go and source instruments for him (I could be way wide of the mark here). I suppose some fakes are of high enough quality to fool even the most hardened/anal collectors.

Exactly.  The mint Braodcaster would certainly need some serious provenance for me to part with $135,000!!!!

I suspect a mint Nocaster doesn't actually exist, so the money that could be gained by making one could be pretty huge...
