any chance of a sticky moderators?
Rooz have put their rates up a bit. I've paid for it, but would very much appreciate voluntary contributions once we arrive - this worked out fine the last time.
Let me know if you'll come, and what amps and guitars you'll bring :)
Any particular guitar of mine people would like me to bring?
-
I'll put my name in tentatively, depends if I've moved to ipswich by then. Also just found out the main ipswich-london train goes to Liverpool St, right round the corner. Score!
I'll get back to y'all.
-
DOH!
i want to come but im working 12-10pm.
also my band is playing at The Underworld on the 21st and i dont have that day off work yet either.
-
Gwem,
Cheers for organising. I shall be there and will bring my CS Esquire with me. Would very much like to take a closer look at your strat with the Wez neck.
Cheers,
Ian.
-
I shall do my best to come, not much to harvest this year. But if its a sunny day and I need to work... not much I can do.
My Gibson with Dirty Fingers again - Kahler is playing a bit sweeter as I have been tinkering :)
Bogner 4x12 could come, or Martamp 2x10, all Sidewinders, anybody care?
2203 / 2204. Depends if I can find time to send the 2203 to Martin
-
AGGGHH! Wrong weekend!!
I shall be at the Oval, munching cucumber sandwiches, and applauding politely as our fine chaps (hopefully) roger Mr Ponting and his boys senseless.
-

Sure, it came the last time, but it is a great guitar!

bogner 4x12, with sidewinders 8) would love to play through that and a 2204!
-
I'm boking the train now. Will confirm shortly.
What do you want me to bring? I can only manage one guitar...

Not interested in the 2203 then?! I would have thought you would have preferred that, with the lower voltage in the preamp
-
I'll bring my homebuilt pedal board and either my epi les paul with MQs or my telecaster with the holydiver bridge pickup. Whatever anyone wants a shot at.

well, naturally I am really interested, but i have a 2204 as you know, so would like to use it as a base for comparison. if someone could help me out with a lift, i could bring my theiles and 2204 - that would a cool compare.

With a bit of luck it'll be rained off!
Hmmm, I have no idea what to bring. All I have at the moment are a load of loose necks and bodies and guitars without pickups.

Bring a thinlne tele! So I can try one out. When I say try one out i mean steal.
-
I could bring my Thinline, although it doesn't have BKPs. But only if you promise not to steal it.
-
Badgermark, how likely is it you'll come do you think?
twinfan: that filtertron thinline you made would be nice to see.
-
Train's all booked - Mrs Twinfan is coming along to go shopping. Lawd help me
The Thinline Tele with Filter'Trons needs a fret dress and setup so it probably won't be ready in time - Wez is going to sort that when he finishes off my custom build.
I could bring the Fano JM6 if no-one else is bringing P90s?
-
I could bring the Fano JM6 if no-one else is bringing P90s?
Yes please! :D
-
ooh, will have to see about this then
If i do decide i can make it then it might be worth bringing that tele fretdress forward so i can have it ready for the meet.
The fano is definately interesting!
-
I could make it - if I did what should I bring?
Strats:
Squier JV strat with Apaches
Fender Classic 60s with Mothers Milks
Tele:
Baja with Flat 50s
-

Right now I'm saying it's an 80% chance I can make it, all depends if I can find a in the house next week or not. Chances are high though.

Those two strats sound interesting Elliot 8)
I'll bring my Feline custom again. Its working properly now, last time it wouldn't stay in tune and there was no piezo.
What else?
-
I'm a definite, that weekend is no problem with work :)
Dunno what i'll bring yet, the list of potential gear is:
Klipp 1 (superlead- the one i brought along last time)
Klipp 2 (the blues amp, ef86 pentode, really creamy sounding)
Rack (ADA-MP1, Quadraverb, 5881 poweramp)
Guitars are:
Charvel model 4 - VHII (bridge only, brought last time)
Ran custom - Nailbomb (PAF Pro in the neck)
gibby LP (may get MQ set for it)
strat (not sure yet, it's only a body at the moment)
I'll have a think!
Edit: possibilty of bringing a bass if i don't bring an amp, if that'd be useful
-
Oli: the rack, bring the rack! :)
(but just if its not much effort)
-
Should I bring "The BC Rich Gunslinger Retro" ? - I will then be forced to wear leather pants and no shirt... (Good thing it has a nice belly contour to accommodate me) :P
-
Crikey, another session at Rooz!!! It was pretty damn sweaty last time, as I remember!!!
-
Yep, it'll be hot! And not in THAT way
Dave - bring the Gunslinger dude! But please wear a shirt ;)
-

If I have to go shirt-less and wear leather, you're damn right IT'S GONNA BE HOT & WE IS GONNA GET SWEATY!
(but it's OK 'cause a bigger room has been booked and I'm gonna dress appropriately for a 35 year old suburbanite)
-
Dave, please wear no shirt and a leather vest - if only so I can make the Stryper jokes at your expense
-

shall i put you down as a definite then elliot?
would be interest to try the JV to see what all the fuss is about
-
I could bring the Fano JM6 if no-one else is bringing P90s?
Yes please mate - I would like to give it another go. I don't think I gave it a fair chance last time!
-
You didn't ;) It's a cracker :)
-
I wish I could come again, I missed muchos of it last time too :(
-
gwEm, what about the Sansamp british? could you put that in a pocket and plug it into a PA at the room?
I want to hear one of these in person
-

that shouldn't be a problem will!
-
I'll confirm things next week, viewing houses down south at the end of the week. If I'm sucessful it's all systems go to a hairy Scottish interloper kicking ass and stealing thinline teles on the 24th!

Nice :D
-
Is Elliott not coming this time?
Just wondering who's going to be keeping me company outside the pub if the weather's good again....
-
I should be coming - depending on whether I remember or not on the day :D
I'll bring the Apache'd Squier JV then Although it may not be brutal enough for the metallic hordes who are descending......
-
i aint going to be able to make it to this one i'm afraid
-
I am trying to get out of what is planned for me but so far not a lot of success. I'd love to be able to attend and meet up with you reprobates.

It does indeed :(

And hoping for a bit of rain so AndyR can make it. Ashes Schmashes...
-
Hoping for lots of rain so we can win the ashes series. Not a great way to win but it'll still be a win!!!
-
Rain on the day, on it's own, won't help on me turning up or not - I'll be sat in the pavilion getting frustrated and p1ssed off with crowds of people milling around, waiting for the umpires to call it off...
If we (or they) wrapped up the game on saturday, then I'll definitely be coming. But I don't really see that happening with these two teams at the moment - I suspect it's gonna be a long drawn out punching competition with everyone near dead at the end. Added to that, if it ain't better than 1-0 when we start (ie, if we don't win Headingly), us Surrey members are all gonna be in a bit of a state in the pavilion as well. Four years ago, lunchtime on the fifth day, most people looked physically ill: a lot of very scared and nervous looking people standing around, chain-smoking, unable to eat our sandwiches, no fingernails left, etc... It won't be as bad this time, I think, because most of us attending have actually witnessed the Ashes being rested from the old enemy now - last time, many of us had never actually seen that. But I, for one, have never been at a test match where we've beaten them in that match itself - I've seen us beat all other test nations, but not "them", and I really want to see it :?
NEway, if the miracle happens, and we roll them over late Saturday - I shall arrive with a very sore throat and up to two guitars (probably the yardbird tele and the new SG) :D
-

On todays evidence we need a HUGE miracle to stand a chance!

Yeah, listening at the moment. It's not the end of the world (or this game even!), but it's looking like it's going to be a stressful "holiday" for me at the Oval in two weeks...
-
What they need to do is have a bbq round Freddies house, get absolutely smashed, play with hangovers and win by 18 runs in an unlikely victory. :P
It's happened before!
-
A post like this makes me wish I lived in England! ... But then again, I feel rather at home where I'm at. Makes me wish I had my own private jet though. 8)
-
Ok Mother Lovers, I has me a nice little house within train distance to London, so I'm 100% in on this.
Big question though, which guitar do i bring? Tele with holydiver or les paul with mississippi queens? You guys choose.
-

LP with MQ's!!!!!
-
Tele!
-
Tele - you look so cool with that tele, it'll make the meet photos look good!
-
+1 for Tele!
-
The Tele!!
-
I'll probably bring along my amber Lion, and maybe Purple Ronnie too
-

Tele and LP, so you have lots to carry and can't nick my Thinline.

I'm bigger than you though. I'll carry both the tele and the LP and your thinline and you're limp and battered body back to my cave in Ipswich.
Ok I can bring both, but at the expense of my lovingly hand built selection of pedals. Maybe just stick my crunchbox clone in the bag or something.
-
Just checking if we could / should hire a drum kit?
If we are good to go with mp3/cd backing tracks via media / CD players into the PA that's great but if we could use a drummer I can source that...
Let me know but based upon past lessons learnt we could use a little organisation
-

there is a drum kit there, your man just needs to bring cymbals
(originally thought you were dissing me mate! on second thoughts that was just beer induced paranoia)

What wacky beer are you drinking? You know me better than that! PDT_003 PDT_002
Simply seeing if we are moving along in the right direction, I'm really looking forward to some fun jams.
I just don't know what!

I'm looking forward to watching!

Should we make a short provisional list of songs to jam? I've not learned anything in ages and I'm not much of a lead player, random widdiling is not my forte.
-
Back in Black again..... 8)
-
Back in Black again..... 8)
ALWAYS!
-
i heard 'breaking the law' a few times last time... its on my set list too.
-

Cool, let's add that to the chaos!
So far everybody learn:
Back in Black
Breaking the law
How about a blues or a boogie like La Grange?
-
Back in Black again..... 8)
It's alright mate, we'll be in the pub. Again ;)
-
Just a thought - I'm happy to pass on a few 'DC licks to folks on the day if that would be useful? Some of them are cleverer than you might think, and they're quite fun to play.
May be a bit simplistic for the shred-head metal guys, but the old-skool rockers might be up for it?

I'm always up for a bit of AC/DC!
-
Yeah, I'll watch and (maybe) learn!
-
If anyone's got some great bluesey licks, i'd to learn some, i find myself playing the same things really and would like to expand out a little more :)
-
up for 'la grange' and an ac-dc lesson :) hope i have time to learn the riffs, should do though
-
Ooh, just spotted this. I might be able to make it.
What's the parking like if the trains are shitee (as they usually are on Sundays)?
If I was training it I could bring my Firecrackle Charvel that Jonathan did up for me with MM bridge and two Trilogy Suites. If driving was feasible maybe I could bring my rack...

theres definitely parking in the area on a sunday.
-
I'm not bringing the Lynchbox !
Way too heavy - difficult enough to pick up - weighs 57lbs for just the head (26kg)
Will stick to guitars
-
I've got a rehearsal on this day now. i thought it may get booked as we are all getting along fine and really enjoying playing.

too bad mate, i guess this means your out then?
might bring my jazzmaster instead of the steinberger if so...
edit: (happy the bands going so well obviously!)
-
I haven't had time to pick up guitar since Friday. Don't think I can make it :(
-
See you all - i'll be a bit later - prob about 4.30ish as I have something to attend to in the early afternoon.
-
JohnnyMac & Will: boo :(
I'll still be attending, thinking about perhaps bringing the Blues Klipp, which should cater to most people a bit better than the rack... it's more Blues/Rock, rather than Rock/Metal... what kinda thing are people wanting to play through?

Our straw shed has been on fire since Sunday afternoon, what is already a busy time of year has been made worse.
Am I let off yet???

Now you're just blinding us with farm terminology we don't understand.
-
Looking forward to this guys, should be fun :)
I'll have to see if I can be arsed to put fresh strings on the Fano.......
-
I'm off to explore Ipswich for a music shop today, the strings on my tele are literally rotting off. What's the plan for sunday then? We all meeting at Rooz at 3? Is the room booked under Gwem? I need to know details people!
And if you bring the Jazzmaster I think i'll need a change of undergarment, I loves me some offsets.
-
the room is the 'stage room' booked under 'gwem' yes...
ok, i'll bring the jazzmaster, and dave and i can have a jazzmaster battle ;) i'm pretty proud of my parts-master, but i think the fano will win anyhow.
-
check out the fretwork on the fano - its done rather well!
-
will also be interested in the difference in sustain - TOM/stoptail vs string-though
and will be sure to examine the fretwork very closely...
-
Now you're just blinding us with farm terminology we don't understand.
Picture worth a thousand words?
-

:o Can't argue with that.....!
-
Blimey Will that looks bad!
-
Wow - that's bad
-
That's not good :o
On the bright side though, if it's still burning on the Bank Holiday weekend we're all buying sausages & coming round for a BBQ :?
-
Monday's firemen just ate sausages and peanut butter. Tuesday's lot decided to cover it in water, so theres now a base of 3ft of soaked hay and straw.
There are some worse pix but I don't like to look now :P
-
I'll let you off, Will, that does look pretty gnarly!
-
Do you know what started the fire?
-
We didn't.
It's been always burning, since the world's been turning.....
-
We didn't.

(Sorry Will, not really a joking matter)

(Sorry Will, not really a joking matter)
Me too!
And agree, not a joking matter although I think a little light humour helps deal with some difficult situations.
-
Yeah yeah. Its not going to change anything being miserable is it?
Although my brother has just gone to hospital for smoke inhalation, the fireman asked him to go in with the JCB and spread the bales out to get them to burn faster, he said 'yes' :?
It would actually be racist to say who likely started it, as from 2000 the racial discrimination act included the Irish based population who habitate in white things on wheels.
The worst part is it damaged a grain store roof, which we were just about to fill up with grain. And if there is a leak, it is illegal.
And this week we have just been bringing back more straw which would have filled up the last corner and the very top part of the shed! Typical isn't it!
So.. am I actually excused now you lot have seen the pix? :P
-
Gutted for you Will - sounds like a horrendous situation.
-
So.. am I actually excused now you lot have seen the pix? :P
Of course - and I think you are due a double dose of good luck now!
-
Hope things get fine now Will, good luck :D
I won't be able to attend the meeting this time again :P
Perhaps next year...
-
Just re-strung the esquire and am very much looking forward to tomorrow.
-
I'm thinking of bringing my Korina V instead of Purple Ronnie as it has some VH2s in.
Just making a new scratchplate for it tonight , and swapping some hardware for tonepros versions as it was made before I started using the TP stuff.
-
Go for it Jon, i'm bringing a Charvel with a VH2 in the bridge, so it'd be cool to hear how a neck one performs :)
-
vh2s all round then :)
-
might bring my Cream Machine so people can try it.
-
Phew that's me made it back home in one piece. Damn it was hot today.
Highlights included:
-Ahfgan dave with a silly grin while holding all a tele.
-Everyones faces when they put on my tele and it hit their knees, long straps ftw
-Philly shredding. No joke, with Dave's yellow BC Rich he was a machine. Fingers were blurring.
-Reliced 'Fenders'- me likee a lot. Dave's Fano was lovely and Ian's Esquire was stunning.
-The cream machine was far too loud and amazing for such a little box. I want one now.
Thanks fellas for making it a fun day and gwEm for 'organising' it. My ears are still ringing thanks to super Oli and his loudness.
-

Just bought the HTH's one :P
Good to see Philly relaxing and playing :D
Have pics?

I think your ears were blurring too!!
Good day though. Some lovely guitars, too many long straps.
-
Sounds like a great time was had.
Is there any pics from the meet?
-
Someone was taking pix I think
It was a good laugh - nothing too serious....
-
don't worry theres a few pics of the meet, give us a chance ;)
so, my highlights... well its true phillyq knows some sweet metal licks thats for sure! boozing in the pub talking about law and metal was very fine. it seems i share alot with afgan dave in terms of guitar taste.
the guitars i wanted to go home with: my slowhand strat, badger's holydiver tele, and my jazzmaster build ;) 2/3 ain't bad ;)
was very happy to see so many friendly faces, and i hope the people who travelled so far found it worth while - regret not having beer with twinfan and ian.. though they seemed surely well pleased about trying some stuff out and getting ideas for their rigs. also happy to see rack fiends feline and oli saying 'your 20/20 poweramps not the sh1t, but its not sh1t either'.
i can see a third london meet, and then after that, who knows!
my big learnings from the meet - ada mp1 really good, don't wear too long guitar strap, be careful of squier jv, and award session jd not too shabby!
-
nothing too serious....
next time jonathan - you and me, schenker licks at 50 paces :D
-

Will have to brush up on some Schenker , Jabs and maybe a bit of Uli Roth

seems that youtube guy can play 'the next bit' ;)

Good to see you all again, and sorry I had to leave to catch my train. Mrs Twinfan was also pretty bored by 7pm as everything had closed
I really liked Feline's Korina V, some nice touches and excellent build quality/attention to detail. I would swap the VHIIs out for something a bit 'thicker' sounding personally, but otherwise it was a great gee-tar :)
-
Was good to meet some new faces yesterday - highlights for me were gwEms strat, great neck by Wez and lovely pickups, Dave's fano - I didn't give it enough time at yours Dave, and Afghans obvious love for all things tele. You need to get one mate!
-
Really liked the Fano, the Feline V, Ian's Esquire and gwEm's JM (with a much nicer Highway 1 neck than the one I bought :( ). Of course I was in my natural habitat with the Gunslinger (even without the leather strides).
I thought Mark's Tele sounded great with the Holy Diver, although presumably the specially-tuned ventilation holes also play their part!

Really great to see you all again and meet others for the first time!
Kinda like a Scientologist meeting, I've been effectively re-programmed:
:x "MUST OWN A TELE" "MUST OWN A TELE" "TELEs MAKES DAVE HAPPY" :x
badgermark's "HOLEY TELE" is grrrrreat fun (though you need arms of an orangutan to use his strap)  Ian's Top Bound Tele is a thing of rare beauty with one hell of a pickup.
As always though, I really enjoyed the beer and a chat moments.
We might all spend a bit too much time on the internet but we still can manage the odd face to face gathering without too many tears.
Finally -
As no one has done it yet I feel this important task fall on my shoulders... Oi Ben (Denim n leather)!

I've been pricing Squier Classic Vibe Telecasters and the BG-1400 Lead Stack for Tele as found in CS 50s Top Bound Esquire...
Wonder where I got that idea? PDT_038

That pickup has a 29-30k resistance!

Good isn't it? That's a hell of a lot more resistance than I can muster in the face of the this whole "Tele Cult" :?

And? Is that pickup available?
-
Oh yes but it would be rude to point you in that direction on this board.. Google my friend.

Fair point!

I feel cheated. Mine weighed in at a wimpy 28.4k!

That's too give it a little more 'air' than stock

Really lets the guitar's natural woody tone through. I still want a double bound, rosewood board'd thinline tele now, with piledrivers. And a jazzmaster.
-
I reckon it does  Will be picking up a new(ish) amp soon and can't wait to play it through a proper amp again.
-
It's as good as new mate! You'll love it :)
-
The infamous "Philly X" Gunslinger pic!
-
 Evil Phill!
-
If I remember correctly he was playin' "Down Boys" by Warrant at that point... Though I could be mistaken... :? :P
-
Oh $%, he's only gone and posted it in two threads!!

"Get Down Shep" by The Barron Knights would probably be closer to the truth....
-
Sorry mate... I thought it was more "appropriate" in this thread :P

Phil's left hand fingers were literally blurring at that point.
