Title: Stewmac Fret Rocker
Post by: MrBump on August 01, 2009, 08:51:11 PM
Just took delivery of one of these this morning.

Very glad I did.  I've tried levelling the frets on my Tele before, and I thought that I'd done an OK job.  However, checking with the fret rocker showed up LOADS of errors on my part!!!

Everything much better now.  A level Tele is a happy Tele...

Mark.

Sounds good, I haven't seen it before.

That's the fella, PQ.  It's a very study little thing, very useful - need to be less of a clumsy oaf than me though, 'cos I managed to stab the pointy end into the back of my tele headstock!

I was thinking it looked a bit pointier than maybe it should be!

Just watched the video - and now after all the years I've been reading Dan Erlewine's books and columns, I've learned that his name is pronounced Early-wine!  :o

 That's just the sort of @rse thing I manage to do - soo glad I'm not alone... :D

(luckily, I'm not too precious about the state of my guitars, otherwise I'd always be beating myself up)

I fancy getting one of these, perhaps as part of the Essential Fretting Toolkit (http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Fretting_supplies/Leveling/Essential_Fretting_Tool_Kit.html).

Incidentally a couple of months ago I was also thinking of getting the Basic Set Up kit, but I noticed that the string gauge (available separately as metric) was only offered in the kit as imperial. I emailed StewMac about this, asking if they could do a metric kit and guess what?

No reply.

It seems it was a good idea though as they now have a metric kit. It would have been nice if they'd bothered to get back to me

I got the setup kit, fretting kit and nut kit.

Great stuff.

I made all my guitars play and feel like a dream with these tools.

I want the kit.

My problem (as those who remember any of my posts may well know) is that I'm such a tight-wad that I baulk at the one off cost, so I end up getting bits and bobs over time, costing myself significantly more, generally...

Numpty.
