The clips and videos sound very promising. Huge arsenal of overdrive and distortion tones.
Has anyone tried one? Will it beat my H&K Tube Factor? Will it beat the Soldano supercharger GTO?

Interesting ...

Yeah, I saw that at Pedalgeek.com some weeks ago. The Womanizer seems to be more versatile. Both have a very, very good built-in compressor and everything looks hi-quality on them. I didn't like the hi-gain sounds too much, though. Properly miked sounds have a lot better note separation than direct recording with cab sim in my opinion.

they got good reviews in a magazine a few months back... i think it was guitar buyer. i think.

I've been hunting for more soundclips of this thing on the internet. The video on the damage control website is very informative. I really liked the lower gain settings wich sound like a hot Fender. The high gain stuff reminded me a bit too much of the Metal Zone. However, the high gain clips on Pedalgeek sounded fantastic. None of the clips I've found used a true tube amp, most of them were direct into the mixing desk.
Again, it sounds promissing but I need to try one first before I send my Tube Factor into early retirement. It's too pricey to just order one on-line.

Ratrod, they reviewed it and had soundclips in Guitarist magazine a few months back. Would you like me to create mp3s of these clips and upload them to you? It shouldnt be too much of a hassle.
It looks really really good. One reviewer said that it essentially creates a new channel for your amplifier, the distortion (being valve based) is that good. I do think they look incredible, but I think they cost a bit too much for me, and take up too much floorspace!
Anyway, if you want those clips, just say so!

Thanks Willo,
I've sent you a PM.

Ratty - if you think the Demonizer has too much gain, have you checked out the Womanizer which is the lower gain model?
-
It's not the amount of gain. I really like the fact that it has tons of gain. I sometimes wish my Tube Factor had a little more. The Womanizer is actually pretty similar to the TF, soundwise. I'm hoping the Demonizer can get me into Mesa and Engl territory. The problem I had with the demo video is that it reminded me of the Metal Zone. I think it's because the guy went a bit overboard with the EQ settings.

Here are the sample clips from Guitarist magazine, July 2005. If I get a chance, I'll try and scan the review itself and put it up here.
Ger, I've also sent them to you through email. :)
Copy and paste the link into your browser, and then download from the online server.

Two things: it also includes the clips of the Womanizer pedal, and I ripped it using audacity, which is still playing up for me and playing things I record back incorrectly, so I had to correct the pitch myself by a semitone. I dont think it will have messed with the sound, but just in case, I thought I'd let you know!
Now onto the interesting stuff - opinions?
-
Both of them sound great. The demo was presented hilarious.
I'm putting the demonizer on my wish list.
The demonizer seems to do what we want the old metal zone to do. It has some of the same features like the half c--ked wah and the abillity to make a banjo sound metal. It also seems to respect the guitar's natural tone.
Thanks again for the trouble, Ian.

I dont like the Demonizer (Evil Voice!) that much really, it sounds kinda grainy or something. The Womaniser sounds great though. I wanna hear that through a clean valve amp!

i was thinking the same thing - it was nothing special at all
the womanizer was much much cooler - i loved it but it's not my kind of thing at the moment. I'll keep a note of it
-
The womanizer doesn't sound that different from the Tube Factor IMHO.
-
normally it takes time to find the right tone (or get used to the tone).
The two sound indeed promising and I'm wondering if someone has got them in the forum here and could give a little feedback on them?
-
There is a local music chain (Sam Ash, I believe) that carries them. I will be trying them out soon.
-
<---- no likey. Hard to say why, just did'nt bond with it I guess :)

That thing sounds GROSS in the soundclips!
-
Most things DO sound "artificial" in sound clips I have found.
-
Its not that its artificial sounding, it just sounds cheap, thin yet muddy..
-
well, it does have a sound
not a good one to my taste, but special.
kinda reminds me of my marshall mini battery amp I used to have early 90s ...
If you already have tons of good tones, why not getting such a tool to be more versatile ...
