As a side thought to my last post. Are there books or any lessons out there on painting a guitar. I am thinking of doing a goldtop.
-
I think there are tutorials on ReRanch, but I could be wrong. Think there's some tutorials over at Project guitar too.

The painting is easy.
It's the sanding, polishing and buffing to a tight and shiny finish that's the hard part.
-
There's some good advice on finishing in Dan Erlewine's Guitar Player Repair Guide.
And there have been quite a few articles in various guitar magazines over the years, but I don't think I'd be able to find them! Needles in a haystack, unfortunately.

there's also an e-book called Paint your own guitar.
not worth the price he's asking for, cos it's pretty common knowledge, once you've painted something.. but it is a good how-to for starters.
the major parts are preparing the guitar and then finishing it to a high gloss finnish, ,without any scratches. the painting itself is pretty easy. even if you do pay it with spraycans.

For some reason, I'd never seen that site before.
