HA!

Yeah, just prefix anywhere with "london" so yanks will come visit.

Hi, yanks, I live in London-Whitehaven, Cumbria. The guy that invented your navy comes from round here  :P

5 years ago they re-branded East Midlands airport Nottingham East Midlands, despite it being closest to Derby, and don't forget, if you get a package deal with flights to Barcelona, you'll probably be going to Girona (57 miles north).

Its part of Boris' grand plan - annexe enough of the home counties so that there is enough land to grow food on and then declare London to be an independent republic free of whippet loving black pudding monkeys.  Long live the Revolution :)

On a similar note - the title of this amused me:

I have flown from there and I seem to remember that there was not much of a runway - can't see them landing many 747s...

In all fairness they have a point.

If Stansted is a London airport, I don't see why Oxford can't be.

Anyone ever flown from Coventry airport?  It's like a little pretend airport that's been made out of site cabins (the exact same sort Ihave meeting in on building sites) which have all been stuck together like lego.

Last time I was there, there were two doors in the same wall which had bits of A4 paper blu-taked onto them.  One said "Gates 1 & 2" The other said "Gates 3 & 4".  Didn't matter which one you went out, they came out into the open air about 10 foot from each other.

Also, even if you've been through security, they'll let you back outside for a ciggy.

I fly from Southampton quite regularly - on Monday one of the guys got off the plane to retrieve his Blackberry from the bar! They let him go too and he was back in 5 mins!

We've also had: One of the passengers reading the safety announcement while the stewardess did the actions because the tape was not working!!

For some context for the English, you actually pass a sign saying you have left Glasgow, Welcome to Renfrewshire. Not that far out but still an entirely different county.
