So sweet. Billy is the man!

Very cool.
I know nothing of ZZ Top, apart from the Eliminator days, Legs, Sharp Dressed Man etc.
Where should a novice start?

Tres Hombres and Rio Grande Mud are an absolute must, and Fandango if you have a couple of spare quid.
I wish I'd seen them in the 70s....

Guy couldn't play a bad note or produce poor tone, even if he tried. Definitely one of the greats, such simple, soulful playing... amazing 8)

Have Mercy, that is filthy in all the right ways.

In an interview in German Gitarre&Bass they talked about their rigs and I was stunned to learn that he's using JMP-1 preamps with 8080 solid state poweramps for all of his basic tone!
Guess it doesn't matter much what he plays through anyways, will always sound awesome.
edit: sorry I meant 8004 poweramp
edit again: sorry, I checked the article, it's Marshall Valvestate Pro 120/120

And Deguello - starts to have a more 'modern' production but that doesn't get in the way - and it's still holy good blues rock (with a special mention for my all-times fav, "Fool for your stockings").

That is monster tone, no doubt.
