Yes, I want to be cheesy and close my eyes when I do those bends and do weird faces in privacy of course.
So any suggestions?
I only have Comfortably Numb right now, the Live version which is bloody awesome to play to.
-
The solo in "Take Away My Pain" by Dream Theater. If emotional is what you're after, it's in there. It's about John Petrucci's Dad.
-
The solo in "I could have lied" - quite possibly my favourite Frusciante solo.
-
Beyond the realms of death - Judas Priest.
-
Guns N Roses - November Rain
Put on your top hat and zip your tight leather pants real tight. I guess the rest is pretty obvious.
-
Jason Becker - Altitudes.... pretty emotional when you think about what's happened to the poor guy... cracking song though!
-
Marillion - Sugar Mice
-
"Have You Ever Loved a Woman?" off "Layla and Other Yadda Yadda..." by Derek and the Dominoes is pretty impassioned.
-
No More Tears ??? well atleast the begining part is emotional ish
-
Military Man by Gary Moore. That's ace.
Mark.
-
While my Guitar Gently Weeps by The Beatles is quite good for that kinda thing.
-
Ballad in urgency - The Black Crowes
Seeing Things - The Black Crowes

Now playing: The Black Crowes - She Gave Good Sunflower (http://www.foxytunes.com/artist/the+black+crowes/track/she+gave+good+sunflower)

EDIT: comfortably numb by pink floyd (the second solo) is another one.
-

Gary Moore: The Loner, Run To The Hills, Still Got The Blues, Parisienne Walkaways
Santana: Samba Pa Ti, Europa, ...
Metallica: Nothing Else Matters
Zep: Stairway To Heaven
Dire Straits: Brothers in Arms
Aerosmith: Livin On The Edge

This!

You've got to do some Gary Moore :)
and I like the suggestion of 'Beyond the Realms of Death"
-
Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I'll get to practicing these and maybe post a few recordings :)
Keep them coming, they're all great.

Larry Carlton : " Emotions wound us so" - from the 'Last Nite' album. Lovely subtle nuances, sweet melody, nice thematic development and depth of emotion. :)

For me it's the understatement and subtlety of this that gets me every time.8)

Whitesnake - Here I go again
-
Life of Agony - Angry Tree
I love the solo in this song. Very simple (and short), but emotional.
-
I think I played too many bends, my fingers started bleeding, argh!
-
EDIT: comfortably numb by pink floyd (the second solo) is another one.
for some reason I thought your original post said the solo in another brick in the walll... sorry for suggesting one you already had
18 and life by skid row is pretty good, too. most of the 80s and early 90s solos are pretty good. tornado of souls by megadeth/marty friedman, song for love by extreme/nuno...
-
" Ice" by Camel! Cheesy..

I don't know if it's necessarily a good emotional solo to play along to, but by golly I enjoyed that clip very much!
-
+1 for Nothing else matters and Song for love by Extreme, two solos that made me want to pick up the guitar.

Well it's more that I always get emotional when I see this vid, so that's what makes it an emotional solo
