Title: New Tele
Post by: yellowv on August 20, 2009, 11:47:45 PM
Well today i got my new MIM Tele that I got for a steal from MF last week. Haven't gotten a chance to play it much yet, but it seems very nice. Although there is a weird rattle when you play an open low E. Not too concerned with it though as the guitar is getting a new bridge, tuners and nut right off the bat. That and a setup should surely solve the issue if there is one. One thing that surprised me about the guitar is the neck. It has awesome flame figuring on both the neck and fretboard. Bonus for sure. I was hoping to start modding today, but my tuners have not arrived as i hoped they would. Here are some pics. More will follow after the mods. Also it will get new electronics and a Piledriver set soon.

I must join in the chorus of approval for that beautiful flame!  :D

It's so perfect, I'd almost wonder if it was a foto-flame, but I don't think they've ever used it on MIM guitars.

Yes it's the original neck and no it's not a photo flame. I just got lucky. When I pulled it out of the box I was like HOLY cr@p LOOK AT THAT FLAME!!!! Funny thing is the photos do it no justice it looks even better in person.
Started modding already. :)

Great purchase. I too have a MIM Tele (with Country Boys). Picked mine up for a song and it is played a hell of a lot.

It just looks smashing. Even on the ironing board

I'm sure it's gonna be one hell of a guitar when you've finished modding it.

What's the bridge, a Wilkinson?  It looks nicely made, not all jagged at the corners like the Fender ones.

Very nice ,  :)

I am pleased to see you fitted the 'vintage' 3 saddle bridge ;  which is ( for me ) a big part in getting the optimum sound and feel of a Telecaster at it's best.

Congratulations !  :D

Well the tuners came in today. Got them installed and strung it up with .10's. Set it up and it plays and sounds GREAT!!! This bridge made a HUGE difference. The guitar sounds much more lively and the annoying rattle it had is totally gone. Now it just needs BKP's.
