I'd like the tight lows and low-mids of the Miracle Man (think E,A,D strings), but with a smoother/rounder/fatter treble region (G,B,E strings). The MM is a wonderful pup, but is a bit too harsh and bright in the upper treble spectrum for my tastes. Just wondering if there's another BKP that meets the criteria described?

I'm thinking Holydiver? I really like mine - low mid grind, quite fat, and no ice-pick harshness.

Hmmm... sounds good. Have you used a MM before to make the comparison? Just curious.
Others?

I played an LP equipped with an MM on Sunday. The HD is a bit fatter, less bright, has more 'grunt' but is not quite as open. The magnets (ceramic versus alnico) will play a big part in this.

Wonder if one can get the HD with ceramic or if that'd derail the intended tone of the pup...

I think the way to lose the highs issue you have is to swap to Alnico, but you'll lose the super tight bass.
It's always a compromise, and will depend on your amp/cab/speaker setup too....
