That is a very cool guitar. I did read somewhere that the pickups Fender are using aren't the proper super-large humbuckers that were on the originals (Seth Lover designed I think?) but are instead regular sized humbuckers in an oversize box.  If you're in love with the sound of the originals you may find the new ones are somewhat different.  On looks alone though, that rocks my boat.

The original had CuNiFe rod magnets, the RI pickups have standard Alnico or ceramic for the MIJ RIs. The originals were built like single coils i believe, having rod magnets instead of bars.

However these might be 'revoiced' wide range RIs, like the one's on the Sonic Youth Jazzblaster.

trems just don't look proper on a tele, unless its a bigsby, which gives instant class and style :)
