Title: Oasis split

It's a shame, but they're past their best, lets face it.  Think of it as a merciful act.

I used to like them when I was a youngster. A bit of a shame but they did stay together for too long IMO. It all went south after what's the story (although they did have a few decent singles ater that). You can only recycle stuff for so long before it gets old.

Slade's Noddy Holder will breathe a sigh of relief that they wont be recycling old slade tunes anymore (slade were as big an influence on their tunes as the Beatles)

Thank god for that!

Now if we could just erase their existance from human memory (especially mine) my fantasy would be complete.

I've a feeling that Liam might get another guitarist in and keep going for a while before it all ends badly. Noel will go on and make solo albums or form a supergroup with some of the other Britpop guys. Give it a 10 years and they'll get back together for a reunion tour and album.

Got nothing against them, used to like them when I was younger but I've never been able to forgive the performance they gave when I went to see them at Glasto.  Terrible, just terrible.

Oasis broke up a long, long time ago, when the original line up disbanded.

I did see the 'current' incarnation of Oasis earlier in the year, and as a childhood fan of the original band, I was pretty disapointed in their performance.

One of the most hyped bands ever.

Can't say I'm particularly bothered - in fact it's neither here nor there as far as I'm concerned.  They made OK but over rated pop songs, and the Gallagher brothers were a bit of a disgrace, IMO.

Mark.

... I'm with you on this but can I add Tony Blair to the "Cool Britannia" amnesia please...

Not my thing but it must be upsetting for their fans. Otherwise, fo far as the band and their people are concerned, expect boost in sales of CDs, yet more compilations and a reunion tour in "n" years time.

This is great news.
Now we just have to keep praying they don't get back together again

I think praying is our only hope. Within 5 years I am fairly confident here will be a 'comeback album' and world tour. Breaking a band up is sometimes the best decision purely on business/commercial terms.

they hadn't done anything worthwhile since about 1978 anyway :)

utterly cr@p band, never understood what anyone saw in them.
