Also what will they retail at?
-
Do you mean the Black series (basically the same as the existing ones but all black :))? They're out now - Thomann had them in stock recently...
-
Indeed :). Thanks. Are Engl cabs any good. I currently use the orange ppc 212 which is pretty good.
-
They're solidly built and heavy.
I have an E412SS, however I swapped the stock V60 speakers out for Classic Lead 80s & G12K100s - never intended to keep the V60s which are quite dark & very scooped which wasn't really what I wanted....
IMHO the "V" 4x12 cabs are a bit of a rip-off, >£250 more for Vintage 30 speakers & all plywood construction (the sides of the "S" cabs are chipboard).

what's so special about these new cabs?
if I was in the market for a cab I'd be look at diezel front loaded cabs where you have the option of a g12k100 instead of v30s, that might only apply to the 4x12 though :(

Nothing - they're just Engl "S" & "V" cabs with black grilles & cornerpieces (as opposed to grey & chrome).

My Engl cab + four new speakers worked out cheaper than a Diezel cab, gave me the combination of speakers I really wanted plus it looked good paired with my Engl head.

the engl cabs i have tried sounded very tight, and very modern. good for metal, but if you play more rock stuff, the orange you already have might be better.

Yeah the orange is pretty dam good for rock. You can do metal at a push with a screamer head and orange cab but obviously better options exist.
