As the subject states but if I indeed wanted to investigate this myself rather than get MDV to fix it what would people assume the issue is? Wires came loose inside. But in specific terms why does a guitar usually stop projecting any sound?
Ignore any inaccurate comments. I think people will get the idea of what I actually mean :).
Explorer 2 humbucker pickups and 1 volume and 1 tone just to give one a better idea of the Schematic.

A break in the continuity of the signal, or something going to ground when it shouldn't.
That'll be the problem.

^ Wot he says...
If it's completely silent (and I assume your lead and amp have been ruled out), the first place I'd look at is the jack socket - there should be two wires attached to it. If the socket has been loose and capable of rotating, one of the connections can easily get broken.

Okay thanks. I will get MDV to look at it at some point anyway.

you mean totally silent? like, no sound at all?
does it have strings on?
;)

Nah, the machineheads would be rattling then, and there'd be a clattering noise as the bridge and tailpiece fell off...
Cruel, CRUEL, Mr Blue!
