Title: So simple, but gave me GAS all the same!
Post by: Nadz1lla on September 08, 2009, 01:11:44 AM
For some reason I am absolutely enamoured with this guitar, she's beautiful!:

Was just searching "Korina" on ebay for something to do and this beauty popped up. Usually not a fan of red guitars but this gorgeous looking lady I will make an exception for, heh.  :D

I like it but is a worn mid-'80s Gibson worth £2,800 ?  You could get one made to your own specs cheaper  :?

He's playing on the collectibility bit isn't he.  Don't think it's worth what he's asking for, certainly not in that condition...

Let's not forget that he's already reduced the price by £1000! As if anyone will be fooled by that piece of shameless 'bargain' statement!

I would struggle to justify paying half of what he is asking.

Hmmm...

Was expecting to go "looks good though :D"

But alas no!

YUK! It seems I don't like Explorers in Candy Apple Red... it looks most ickysome... (personal opinion only, obviously, but I do wonder if that's why they only made a handful??)

It must be a blue boon, our guitar tastes are curiously aligned on this one :)

I think it looks cr@p. And for that price, I think the guy needs to have his head shoved in a fridge door repeatedly.

What a surprise...

I bet it gets relisted with a big statement saying that he has knocked £1500 off of the asking price.

If you want it, bid a reasonable amount. When he doesn't sell and relists it, bid the same amount again. Keep doing that untill he caves in. Maybe contact him at some point saying you're seriously intersted but only for a fair price.

it is far too over priced, but i like the look.

if you want a cool vintage 80s explorer at a reasonable price:

Aye gwEm, that's a nice one too! Yeah I don't agree with the guy's pricing at all, and I'd never be able to afford that much in a million years! (Unemployed, they're stopping my benefits and I have to have my car scr@pped....having a lovely week, lol!)

I would normally be with the haters on this one, usually this kind of thing wouldn't grab me but for some reason, aesthetically, this guitar pleases me, heh.  :)

:o that is a bit of a shock...

I'm not averse to red guitars - in fact my Explorer is "Dark Cherry" (I think that's what it's called) that's kinda in the "red" family... but it's gorgeously dark with a white plate, and no binding to disturb or over-emphasize those gorgeous Explorer lines :D

That second one that gwem posted is not so bad... but then, I dunno, it's got binding on it, hasn't it? Kinda spoils it for me... Binding only works on certain types for me, and an Explorer doesn't seem to be one of them..

Love the one gwEm posted.  Price sound more like it too. The red one it  is just not for me and with that price tag forget it!

I like that one - a much, much better price and IMO much better looking.

As for binding I agree it only works on certain types!!

Yes
Teles
Les Paul standards
335s

No
Strats - they look f*cking awful (apologies if anyone on here has one)
Vs
PRS
SGs - not sure if there is one but it just won't work!

i am doing one with multiply binding at the moment and wasnt sure if it would work with the shape.  i am actually thinking it works pretty well - but then PRSi usually have the faux binding effect anyway
