Title: Mesa MK 1 - opinions
Post by: murraymurray on September 16, 2009, 12:42:00 AM
I've seen a mesa mk1 reissue for sale for quite cheap, with the steel grill 4x12
I want another cab like that, the one ive got rules
but he's not willing to split them up so i was considering buying the whoel set up

not too familiar with the mark1's, ive played a mark 4 and it was pretty cool. heard mark IIc+'s and theyre pretty cool
but whats up with the earlier ones? what level of gain are we talking about? jcm800 territory? or is it lower gain?
i know it will be total different tone, but just after general ideas.
Would surely need to run a ts or similar in front.

My other option is just splash out and buy it and flick the head off separately if its not my cup of tea.
Just a bit undecided whether i actually need another 4x12 and if i should just stop looking at amps

Cheers

a Mk I can be a beast, but its not instant gratification...bass galore/the gain is aggressive-if you are familiar with the IV and the holy grail C+, the MK I is more raw/not as smooth...it takes some time to get a good balance between clean channel and lead channel, as they share controls-bottom line , it is a  versatile amp in my book-the list of MK I players thru the yrs is impressive
for all things Mark-http://homepage.mac.com/mesaboogie/welcome.html

Didn't win the auction, started getting a bit too expensive for something i didnt really need.
now i can spend my money on many more smaller things  8)
