Title: Final choice, bridge sg 61 pickup
Post by: fr33man1 on September 16, 2009, 08:43:30 AM
Hey fellas'. I already asked a lot around here but could never make up my mind. I ended for a nailbomb neck that pleases me alot. I tried a french handwound bridge unit supposed to be a gibson 500t with better response, less compressed and a lot more organic. Lets admit it, failure.

Sought alot on boards aswell, found hunter several demos with riff raffs and cold sweat and miracle man. Did not really find any tempting though he plays very well.  :) I really want something that can be mainly brutal but stay nice in clean (even if the nbomb neck is perfect for that) and can take some rock n roll crunch sounds.

I was thinking about a painkiller for its tightness and strong low mid chunk. Also read a lot of reviews saying it was surprising in clean and crunch for a ceramic unit. Or a nailbomb as it seems a logical choice to complete my nbomb neck and get a calibrated set. Read here and there it was dark on an sg, but did not notice darkness at all on my neck pick up.

Any ideas are welcomed ;).

ps : i intend to play in standard mainly and in drop D sometimes, no mega downtuning projects on that axe.

Nailbomb MIGHT be a little dark sounding in an all mahagony sg...
Ceramic Nailomb or Painkiller if you SG is dark sounding, Nailbomb if it's bright sounding.
