Title: Vintage Ibanez Icemen
Post by: Prawnik on September 24, 2009, 09:04:24 AM
What can you all tell me about these?

I saw one (circa 1980) for around USD 500; seems intriguing but I don't know much about them.

Jon @ Feline is the expert but...

I can tell you that once you strap one on or have it in your lap it feels perfectly balanced. Great guitars that are more than just a different shape.

Some are becoming collectors guitars too.

Can't tell you on that one, but I had an old Ibanez Firebird and it was a lovely chunk of wood.

I bet it was, those early Ibanez guitars were great - I'd love an Ibanez destroyer like this...

Dont get me started on the PS10 Paul Stanley (Kiss) version

Some of you may have played this one I made about 10 years ago

I got into trouble over the use of the Harley logo so I withdrew it from sale
Great playing guitar though

I know he always insists it's NOT an Iceman but a completely different guitar.

Yeah unfortunately they're usually listed at 2,000 PLUS.

They were only around $500 a couple of years ago. I should have bought one then.

Thank you for the assistance!

The Iceman I have been sniffing has traditional humbuckers. So is it really vintage 1980 or is the seller full of it?

It may take me a bit to get hold of photos.

BTW, what is the scale length on a (non)vintage Iceman?

The vintage ones had a Gibson scale lengh between 626-628mm

Some later ones had a Fender scale of 650mm
