I need new pickups for my schecter tenpest custom. It's black with gold hardware. The pickups are too tame. I need somthing for heavy rock and metal. Split coils and gold covers. Mahogany body and rosewood fratboard.

Should be fairly straightforward:
All BKP humbuckers are available with gold covers & 4-conductor wiring (which is what you need for coil splitting).
Is it a bolt-on, set-neck or neck-thru? what's the neck wood?
Without knowing exactly what sound you're aiming for, & as a good starting point, I'll say COLD SWEAT calibrated set :)

mahogany body with maple top. Rosewood fretboard. Hard rock and metal. ZZ Top, Metallica, type tones

I would suggest Nailbombs, maybe someone else with experience with ceramic pickups will disagree, Nailbombs do a great job in covering a wide range.

I bought Dimarzio 36th annaversary PAF set. About half the price of bareknuckles. Thanks to thoes who tried to help

and, with all the respect i'm capable of, half the tone and twice the mud... de gustibus non disputandum est: tastes are not arguable, mate... :)

Oh! Have you tried them? Do tell.

ok, i just spoke out of prejudice, they can easily be the opposite of ANY other Dimarzio pickup i tried or owned, but i don't know, actually.
usually i don't play the smartass in real life nor in forums, i just found your post a bit unpolite (in the sense that it sounded a bit like: if you had ears you could find much better than your sh1tty BKPs at much lower prices)... but i could easily be wrong, it's easy to misunderstand people if everything you know of them are few lines of text!
anyway i never liked the tone philosophy behind Dimarzio pickups, so my prejudice is explained. just a small question, did you tried any of the above BKP sets?

Fwiw I dont think mikenice came off as rude - he was saying, as I saw it, that his decision to buy the dimarzios was based on price, and theres an implicit assumtion in there that BKs cant be enough better to cost twice as much.
In my opinion thats horribly wrong, but if thats his opinion, fine. Not all pickups are made equal, by a long shot, but if youre happy with what you got thats great. If you change your mind, you know where we are.

Personally I'd rather pay extra now for something I know I'm not gonna change than buy something on the cheap only to grow tired of it or have it break (I had a Jb Jr. literally break - the back of the pickup fell out when my guitar took a slight spill... I was not pleased with the resulting sound, to say the least).

i think you're right, and my first answer was partly ironic... maybe I was the rude one, to be honest!

Meh, I can see how you read what you did into it. "Oh! Have you tried them? Do tell." this, for example, looks a bit confrontational and presumptuous when he hasnt tried the BKs, but then it might also be a genuine enquiry.
We shall have to wait for mike to clear it up!

thanks guys. Actually I took offence to his remark and replyed in a smartass way. The Dimarzios are supposed to be great pickups. I'm going to give them a go. The BNPs are almost as expensive as the guitar I would put them in.
