Ah, one of my favorite bands. I try to catch them whenever they play here. It's weird to see Fallon without a beard though, that kinda freaked me out!

I cant get into Clutch for some reason. Some of the songs are awesome (like Promoter) but I find the majority I've heard to be pretty boring overall.

He only has a beard when they're touring, apparently.

Dynamite band. Even if their last album is weak. It's hard to come off the back of three fantastic ones and love up to expectations, I suppose.

They really are great.

My fave song changes every week, atm I'd say it was Profits of Doom.

They remind me of Crowbar for some reason, but sort of Crowbar-lite.  Bit limp for me I'm afraid.

I'm not really much of a Crowbar fan to be honest, you're right about the song-writing too.  Playing in Down is the best thing Windstein has ever done.

That's unacceptable chat.

Crowbar are a sublime band.

Shush you too!

Crowbar is the best thing Kirk has done.

And for the record, Eyehategod is the best thing Jimmy Bower has done.

But Down IS the best thing Anselmo has been involved with.

Eyehategod, now we're talking - 'Take As Needed For Pain' kicks arse, serious arse!!!  It's second only to EW's Dopethrone imo.

Got some stuff by Acid Bath (When The Kite String Pops) and thats pretty good too - more melodic singing than either of the above.

Acid Bath are great, and quite varied as they go along, too.

Iron Monkey, Sourvein (Liz Buckingham's band before Wizard) Buzzov*en, Weedeater and the Melvins are all essential sludge, too.

Sourvein are $%&#ing evil, love their slow riffs and nasty vocals - Iron Monkey too.  I also dig Goatwhore, but they're a bit more of a mix of styles, not just a doom/sludge type band.

Buzzov*en and Weedeater... need to persevere I think, didn't do much for me on first few listens.  Need to get more Melvins stuff, I know they're the grand-daddies of this genre - Bullhead is pretty sludgetastic.

"Acid Bath" Great band!! I have a friend that played " When the Kite Strings Pop " everyday at work for three weeks in a row, man he looked like he was going to shoot somebody. I bought the record too. Dax Riggs is gone to Austin, I think, nowadays he doesn't like people asking to play Acid Bath... His solo work is really good!

lets hope so, I don't fancy a three hour drive to Sheffield or Glasgow as the two nearest gigs.

as a tip of the hat to the doom godfathers, here's some Sabbath (been loving this live version of Children Of The Grave)... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRhZISswW_k

I'm not that big a fan of clutch, but I love fallon; very charasmatic, singing style suits the music perfectly and he writes some of the best lyrics out there, IMO! Intelligent and entertaining in lyrics is a damned hard balance to strike!
