Recently I have been selling some guitars and other gear that I don't use/need anymore and simplifying my rig down to what I actually need/use for band rehearsals and live gigs. With the money I got for selling off gear I bought myself the Feline Lion Cub that I have had an eye on for the past few months.
I am now down to just 4 guitars (including my WezV build) which I am very content with.
I'm sure most people have seen the Feline Lion Cub before, but for those who haven't:

I'm sure most would agree that Lion is such a beautiful instrument! I can't wait to recieve it! :D

OH!!!! YOU GOT IT!!!!! BAR-STEWARD!!! jealous
This is such a looker!!
-
sweet :D
-
Nice one! :D
I love the look of it and would've been very keen myself, but I think Jonathan said it's heavy which was enough to put me off.
Enjoy!!
-
nice! how was that thing made? i don't see a neck joint... or is it just a really good one?
-
mmm feline
-
I believe it's a glued-in neck, with a full-width tenon. Then it's sculpted to that lovely shape so you can't see the join! :)
-
Congrats, it sounds great!
-
I think I played that when I was in ages ago. Or maybe I just lifted the body up to feel the weight?
That neck will be 3 piece for strength. Like mine you will need to look very, very, hard to see it
-
Thanks guys very much looking forward to recieving it!
I will give a more detailed review once I have recieved it and played it for a bit. As for the weight of the guitar that doesn't bother me, I like Les Pauls to be heavy!
-
Great score - enjoy it!
-
Lovely looking guitar :) I wanted that but just cant afford such extravagances at the minute!
-
Deep, deep envy!
-
What p'ups are there in there?

BKP Mule in the bridge and Seymour Duncan Jazz in the neck.

I should point out that the guitar has the more classic amber knobs on it now
I sold the cool ivoroid ones to Steve Stevens

I hope you made him pay top dollar for 'em!
-
Ah yes I forgot about the amber knobs.
Definitely looks like a more classic LP now though!
-
Superb looking guitar- congratulations.
-
Nice! I reckon quite a few on here have played that guitar!
-
You've got a really great guitar there... Soooo much better than a Gibson.
-
Having played a Feline for the first time last weekend, I am truly jealous. I am usually indifferent to Les Paul style guitars, but the Lion destroyed any I've tried in the past. Jon and his team do truly fantastic work.
Congrats!
-
That looks really good! And those design improvements over the G ones; much more comfortable neck joint, volute and the 3 piece construction on the neck.

Nice one, congratulations all round :D
I haven't played it, but I too had my eye on that one - only vaguely mind you, otherwise it would probably have gone a while back
-
Nice Feline! The neck joint on those Lions is such a great upgrade over the classic set neck design, a real masterpiece of comfort, aesthetics & function.
It's good to see Feline's guitars getting snapped up & I'm really happy to have one of my own, but I often have mixed feelings about them going - for example, when the korina lion in marine blue went I was sad because I wanted it for myself but relieved that my credit card was spared the punishment :)
-
I preffer it with the amber knobs :D
-
mmm cub am jealous
-
She sure is a sweet axe 8)
-
I love that Lion! Congrats :D
-
That's a lovely guitar. They really are in a league of their own. I hope you love yours as much a sI love mine.
I've had mine a year now. I been rehearsing with it solid for 3 months and I don't want to play anything else. I've bonded with it so much. I did actually dump a girlfriend to play this guitar more and start a band!! :D

Now there's a recommendation - that's how good Felines are... :D
But before anyone starts thinking of a Feline marketing campaign based round this (or is it only me?), bear in mind that many of us potential buyers have partners who possibly need some diplomatic persuasion before okaying the transfer of funds...
I can just imagine it - "oh wow, the fretwork, the tone, it'll be all the guitar I'll ever need, etc..." (sound familiar chaps?) and then ... "and look at this babe, there's a bloke here who's got one that's so good, he went and dumped his missus so's he could play it more... [laughs]... class!.... yeah... er... wot?.... WOT?! wot have I said now?"

Ha ha - nice!
Although over the last 18 months 3 pf my guitars have been bought by wives or girlfriends for their partners
-
Broke the news to my partner that once my Vigier is sold, I'm going custom, she did not give me a great look!!! Once i have the funds in place I think a nice little chat with Jon is in order!
-
The payment by instalments does make it a lot easier and if such a guitar is a keeper then it's money well spent.

Or maybe some of us just need spines? :P
I'm fortunate in that my girlfriend spends a daft amount of money on lenses and camera stuff, so she has no grounds to moan about my gear. And cigars. And whisky. And vinyl. And...

That are GREAT partners!

Well I recieved the guitar this morning and have been playing it this afternoon and it just sounds unbelievable! It looks so much better in the flesh than it does in the pictures. It is just stunning to look at.
Going to be taking it with me to band practice on saturday and I will definitely use it at my bands next gig at the end of the month.

Yes indeed they do. I love it, I can't wait to take it out gigging and see what it sounds like live.
I'll post some more pics of it over the weekend :)
-
The great thing about the Feline Lions is that they get better with age and use... The wood and joints mature and settle down.
It's good now but it will be better after a year of gigging. :D
-
Glad to here you like it, now it as arrived and you have played it. Cannot say I am surprised though! I look forward to hearing how the gig turns out with it. Pictures please.
-
I took the Lion Cub with me to rehearsals this evening and it sounded great at a more cranked up volume. I just love the tone of it, I think the Mule and the SD Jazz work well together in the 30 year old brazillian mahogany body. I can see this guitar quickly becoming my #1.
-
have to see what i can do about that ... nah, just kidding. its very lovely and pretty much what i would have in a feline!!
:D
should really get you a new pic of that esquire! nearly ready for spraying
-
I'll have to add to the chorus. That one B-E-A-UTIFUL guitar!!!
I would just love to get my hands on a Feline Lion, but I think they're a bit out of my league.
-

Thats great news Wez. Looking forward to seeing it! :D
-
If I remember rightly your guitar is made from the same bit of 30 year old timber as mine
-
Indeed it is from the same stash - we chambered yours a bit Matt - otherwise would have been way heavy
-
a good advert for not being snobbish about chambering... it has to be one of the best LP style guitars i have played/heard
-
posted on wrong topic, sorry
Good Wez, I'll take my fears of Chambering a little away...
