Well, the deal is done. Thanks Ian!
As the other thread says, I LOVED Ian's 50s Top Bound Esquire so much that I offered to buy it should he ever want to sell it. Much sooner than I was expecting(!) that opportunity arose when Ian found a Strat he liked the look of at a dealer. A complicated three-way trade deal then ensued and I ended up with his Esquire, the dealer ended up with my maple top McCarty and Ian got a Strat. Everyone's happy :D
The Esquire just flat out rocks and suits me to a tee. The Rev Willie G would be very proud! The pickup is a monster yet surprisingly twangy and Tele-like. I just need to get a longer strap for it later in the month with some gig money.
Anyway, here's the bit of blue I promised for the lads ;)

Enough Blue TF? They look fantastic!
Also, is this McCarty you speak of the Rosewood necked one?
-
Nope, the Rosewood McCarty was sold on eBay. The one I traded today was this regular McCarty. I just wasn't playing it...

Will post pics of the Strat up soon. It's also blue. I think Dave and I are trying to corner the blue guitar market :D

Thank god, i've been getting tempted by that! Congrats again on your new purchase!
-
Wow, that's a mighty fine collection of blue guitars! :D
Twinfan the new Scott Chinery?

Yep, all sorted except for that mythical Emerald Green Modern Eagle :D

" One man's loss, is another man's gain " ...
It must have taken some letting go of, but what a beauty ! I also thought it looked very at home with your gorgeous 'blue' collection. ( I want that Blue Bendetto Archtop that PhillyQ posted a picture of ! ).
At least she stayed in the B.K.P ' family ' ! :)

Indeed.
Although I don't really think I lost out! Great guitar though.

Dave is a very fair / ethical trader. 8)

Nice blue guitar collection! The Esquire fits in perfectly. :D

I couldn't agree more. We've traded on a few things now and never had a problem.
-
Aw shucks, you're making me blush
I'm glad we could sort something out that was mutually acceptable and could happen quick enough to enable you to get the Strat!

All the stars aligned at exactly the right moment in time mate. A few weeks later and it would have been too close to the baby arriving for me to get way with it (although I only told Jane last night). A few weeks earlier and I wouldn't have been going through a major GAS attack for a Strat! It was meant to be.
-
sweet. I really like blue guitars, too, though I only have one at the moment. Ironically, I have 3 black guitars, the colour I like the least (though it does look good in certain guitars)...
-
It was meant to be.
Yep, seems that way!
-
Wow, nice collection Dave.... bonus that everyone is happy! Look forward now to seeing the strat. Congrats all round.
-
Looks great to me-I can't wait to see the next installment.
-
Very Nice....
BUT now....
The clock is ticking and one question hangs on everyone's lips....
What's next? :P
-
Except for that ultra-rare Emerald Green Modern Eagle, that I'll keep a casual eye out for, nothing Dave.
Nothing.
-
What's the betting that an Emerald Green Modern Eagle suddenly comes on the market just when you feel complete?
It's always the way... never rains but... Till then enjoy the current collection. :D
-
out of interest what are them fano guitars like..not seen one before
-
They're very nice mate - cracking in fact.
-
were sells them
-
Now - I seem to remember a thread not very long ago when someone (he who shall not be named, Dave...) was claiming that his GAS was cured and that he would not be acquiring anything else in the near future...
Did I dream this?

Read the I Love This Guitar thread for the answer to that one Mike!

That's a nice collection! PDT_001

Hi,
Congrats Dave,
That looks one nice collection of guitars. All the better too in that it helped Ian get his guitar too.

Read the first post again fella ;) This was an old agreement that was made! It's not new GAS...

They don't have any in stock though - looks like they get one every couple of months or so. So you're looking at a custom order.
-
As Philly says. They got a few in a while back, now only get the odd one from time to time. Dennis Fano doesn't make that many really...

im tempted by something with a less common shape, been looking an Fano's. I'll have to swing by sounds great and have a word with my boy gary up there. maybe pick up an attenuator as well. my playing manchester in december, i want to go wish him merry christmas. maybe i can get myself a xmas gift while im there.

I thought they were your enemy? There was one shop you didn't get on with anyway.
-
It's all looking just a touch too blue for my tastes (I seem to have a black theme, and a red theme building up at my place...), but each of those on their own look mighty purdey...
Glad you guys were able to get it sorted - I hadn't realised the rosewood neck PRS was part of the plan, sounds like an eminently sensible plan all round... nice one :D

I was being sarcastic. its only one dude there i have an issue with. still! yes i refuse to let it drop.
I do however fancy playing a fano. I was looking at firebird-esque shapes. obviously firebirds, RD's, some otherstuff.
I was also looking at set neck strats and tele's. i dunno. mucking about.
Fano's look cool but im not sure P90's
-
 sorry. Internet sarcasm and all..
Maybe you should go in there to try a Fano out, see how they are doing and if the same fellow still works there ;)
-
More blue stuff
What is the view out there - does this work in blue?
And it is the real colour!
Mike
-
I'm not sure about that :?
-
Me neither....
I am GASSING for a decent one but not sure about the blue... (I sold one a couple of weeks back because the pups were non original but still on the hunt)
-
I saw a Vintage White/5-ply binding/Gold Hardware SG-something000 in a local guitar shop, kind of Seventies Les Paul Custom as an SG-2000 type of thing, which I thought was stunning. I think it was a reissue, though.
