Title: Should I sell?
Post by: Ribboz on October 16, 2009, 04:32:48 AM
Now I know you're gonna think Im crazy. BUT, I honestly really want to do this. Ok heres the guitar if you haven't seen it in the user gallery.

Now, I wanna sell the neck :D and get a new one. I really want to go against the whole natural feel. Ive been obsessed with exotic woods to no end, and feel this would be awesome

yeah its cr@py photoshop. It would pretty much be the same neck with solid black and an ebony fretboard.

Now for my question. How much do you think a 3A flame maple neck would sell for?
Specs:
Warmoth Pro 25.5
Stainless steel frets ss6115
3A Flame Maple,neck and fretboard.
Fatback
Floyd setup
1-11/16
Everything else is pretty much standard options

So how much you think it could sell for?

Lol and if you think Im crazy, go ahead and say what you like. It will be fun XD

oh and HAHAHA the forum censored the word cr@py HAHAHA

I'd say you wouldn't get much more than a tenner for it, but I'll do you a deal and give you 25 quid for the whole guitar
;)

No idea on how much you would get.for it  It looks a nice guitar with the maple neck  and also nice with photoshop  doctoring.  If possible if you can  do it just keep the neck.

I would if I could. Im in college right now, and zero money XD oh and no new jobs seem to be opening up :'(

I have a problem with the neck though, I wanted my guitars to have the same feel. Ever since warmoth changed what their standard fatback was, in the last few years, it left me with two completely different feels. Spike told me this maple neck was when they were still hand carving them. But I kinda doubt that it was hand carved, being from them.

Well if you prefer the carve on this neck, keep this neck on it IMO

I said I dont like the feel of the neck. Thats why I want to sell it.
I would like to keep it only because of sentimental value.

If the neck's in good condition you'll get a decent price for it, although I'd guess the Floyd nut reduces the appeal a little bit.

I sold an unused Warmoth Strat neck, also cut for a Floyd nut, a couple of years ago and got £155 for it.

It is really pathetic how people think badly about floyds. People just don't have any patience, or understanding.

:? But people do have opinions though. I had a floyd equipped guitar for a few years. I understood it but just didn't like it so I sold it.

If you are dead set on selling it, and it sounds like you are, I would put it up as a buy it now for the price you want. I'm not sure how eBays reserve pricing works but I htink they carry a higher fee than a BIN. Could be wrong thoguh.

Sorry, missed the point
See if you can get the neck shape you want, if it works out too expensive, would it be possible to have your neck shaved to the new fatback specs?

I considered that option, but warmoth was afraid to cut the neck. Spike said it would warp. Haha but the chances of that neck warping, when Im talking about a 10th of an inch shaved off, are almost impossible.

Oh and I feel like ranting about floyds but I dont feel like arguing with ibanez users, god I hate what they did.

OH and I forgot to mention. Thank you Will and Philly Q for your responses :)

That's a very strange response, seeing how keen they normally are to stress how rare it is for their necks to warp.  It's not as if you wanted it shaved down to a Wizard shape!

I guess they just didn't want the hassle, for whatever reason.

(Does this mean the old Fatback shape was even bigger than the current one, by the way?  I haven't actually tried a Fatback, but I think it would be too much, even though I like biggish necks.)

The fat back is real beefy. And yes the old fat back was much more round than the current one, and thus felt alot bigger, the new one has a very very light shrink in thickness from the 12 to 1 fret and flattens out towards the 1st fret. The current shape feels much much nicer than the old. Oh, and another problem with the old shape, was the neck tended to be neck heavy. :| Frustrating.

Most people I know said it was comfortable, after getting use to it. But it is thick :D and has thick tone! :D

I like the '59 Roundback, I think that's the shape for me.  I wouldn't dare go any bigger, too much hassle to get it shaved down if I didn't like it.  :D

YES! That was the problem I had :D and is why Im selling it. The 59 looked good. Im just worried I would like it and then dislike the the current neck I have! Blah :| frustrate haha

If you had other headstock shape it could be sold to be easily... This one I wouldn't want...

:P The suhr/kramer headstock is practically the best one ever made. Its both smooth and aggressive. Could be on a vintage or modern guitar. AND even eddie had it on his guitars, untill the stupid hockey stick came out.

I love that video. Best headstock :P :D
