Title: 199€/180GBP for a new 100W Windsor Head, unbelieveable!
Post by: hunter on October 22, 2009, 10:10:15 AM
I mean this is really crazy, a fully sized 100W tube head with gain boost and switchable loop for 200€?

This is less than a new set of tubes for the Triamp. It is what some people pay for their effect power supplies, or two guitar cables.

Amazing that they can build this, have it shipped, go through wholesale and retail, VAT and still make a profit!

I think about getting one just for the heck of it ...

I saw it on their website earlier but they seem to have took it down now. It was probably just a mistake, guess it was too good to be true huh?

That's weird, because I found out about it on the Hot Deals they sent to me (printed ad on paper by postal mail).

Maybe they're sold out, or Peavey put pressure on them to not force price erosion?

That's weired. I followed the link this morning and it was working fine hence my urging for Hunter to by the amp, but know it says that the amp is no longer avilable at Thomann.

I've seen them at around that price before, occasionally, on special deals. Certainly around the £200 mark. As everyone's said, if you need a marshall-style backup amp, and don't really need too many cleans, that's a pretty good deal. From what I remember, it was pretty good, if not amazing, which is pretty good for that kind of money.

It's not an error, they are being discontinued. I don't know anything else except that the Windsor is a good amp, which I almost bought once - it really impressed me, didn't sound cheap at all.

If you think of it, tube amps are made of standard components that have been mass produced for decades - most of the costs in production are probably for manual labor and r&d nowadays. The Windsor probably didn't cost much in both categories.

Now it says "not on our stock" or something alike... seems like they had less than 10 amps and wanted to get rid of it
