http://www.dragonforce.com/download/DragonForce-Through_the_Fire_and_Flames.mp3
Official new mp3 off their new album, figured id pimp my favourate band... i'm sure theres lots of people on here who appreciate a good shred 8)
Its pretty crazy guitar wise, cant wait to see them attempt stuff like this live!!
Anyone else a fan of these guys? :D
Ps. Yeah the full album is out there to be downloaded... apparantly a pre mastered version (considering the band stated they didnt even possess a mastered copy at the time it was leaked out!)
-
my friend came across a song of theirs, its the one that goes:
'Proud and so glorious,
standing in front of us'
or words to that effect. I honestly, don't mean to offend anyone here, but I thought it was quite funny. It was so epic! It was good though, in it's own way...I can still totally remember the melody, and you could tell the instrumentation was top drawer. A guilty pleasure, you could call it!
Thanks for the link; I'll check it out!
-
I don't see the appeal, but I was never a Dragon Farce fan to begin with.
-
Heart of A Dragon willo 8)
cheesy song off the 1st album.. one of my favs :D
Yep, its all about having fun and not taking yourself too serious like alot of power metal bands do.. 8)
TO... well the appeal to me is the sheer speed and technicality of the music, and its so catchy aswell. They are pretty unique and a bit (ok WAY) over the top... extreme power metal!!!
-
i'm really warming to dragonforce i have to admit - that is great guitar playing!!! 8)
-
Yeah, Dragonforce are good.
Lyrics are a bit.... iffy....
\m/>.<\m/

I generally cant stand bands this cheesey unless they are Dream Theater. Technically there are tonnes of bands which destroy them all over the shop. I cant dispute they are amazing guitarist just not my thing.
If you want to listen to technical, speedy music. Have a listen to
Sleep Terror
Necrophagist
Spastic Ink
Sikth
Between the Buried and Me
Michael Angelo Batio
Liquid Tension Experiment
Cant really think of many other bands, even though not all of these guys are complete cheese tastic.

:D Yer i love "Good" power Metal [ if we had a headbanging icon this is were i`d have used it !!]
am i right in thinking some members of Dragon force went on to become Power Quest ?
Love Power Quest great band Shame the lyrics are so cheesy!!!! :P
If you Love Power Metal then i would suggest that you get a band called
Pagans Mind there from Norway the singer sounds identical to Geoff Tate [Queensryche] There album "Enigmatic Calling" is a F***ing Great album serious sounds but with great songs you`ll walk away singing check`em out
:D 8)

Dragonforce are very cool and good fun. I've followed em right from the start of their career because my mate did their web site and another mate was their official photographer.
I noticed someone mentioned Dream Theatre, I really don't understand all the petrucci worship the guy is simply massively overrated. For me dream theatre is the musical equivilent of paint drying 8) I went to a DT gig before and the band just stood almost totally still playing their songs with practically 0 stage presence, no bopping in the crowd either zzzzzzzz
Gimme some real metal any day!
-
I can accept that. Dream Theater hardly do move, but there music isnt about moshing to. Its about crazy musicality! Also in what way is John Petrucci overrated? Hes not my favourite guitarist but he is amazing none the less.
-
I like DT in small doses.. but they do get a bit boring :(
Same as people like Yngwie... and yep even Dragonforce got boring at the last gig of theres i went to!
I like the festival type slots of an hour, 45mins or 1hr 10 etc.
If you think, an hour is like 8-10 songs for most bands, thats enough!
-
My friend bought that Live In Budokan Dream Theater dvd...I really respect John Petrucci. I think the control and precision he has is frankly outstanding. Having said that, I dont much care for his soloing style. It can get a little repetitive to me. But I think his ability is beyond questioning; at least by me!
Sorry for going a little OT there...
-
i know you're all going to yell at me, but to be honest i find all power metal terribly boring song-wise. I just enjoy the guitar, which in itself can also get boring after a while. Dream Theatre are painfully dull live! LOL

No offense taken, and please don't be offended by my next question: how broad is your frame of reference?
DT is NOT power metal, and I bet many other bands you consider power metal are not, too. People often call MY band power metal, and I'll be the first to tell you - we're not.
-
what would you classify yourself as TO?
You remind me of bands like Pegazus, Accept, Savatage, Running Wild, Shadow Keep, Aska, Gothic Nights etc etc... eg 'Traditional Heavy Metal'
I think people just use power metal as a label for anything fast and melodic these days...
-
Yay Dragonforce! I have quite a few songs on my computer from em, need more! One day I will be able to play My Spirit Will Go On all the way through.. yeah right
-
I prefer Sonata Arctica for my cheese
http://sonataarctica.info/files/mp3/wolfandraven.mp3
Full video here
http://www.saunalahti.fi/arsi666/wolf_and_raven.mpg
They're well worth checking out if you like stuff similar to Dragonforce :)
-
yeah i used to bum sonata arctice for cheese - got bored with them though
-
Both links are forbidden apparently
-
not for me
-
The Dragonforce website was killed earlier, bandwidth got pillaged with everyone getting the mp3 apparantly :P
-
:D Maybe in the 80`s what you play would have been clased as just H/M but with Metal now having catagories & sub catagories your definatly Power Metal Ben ! [ at least the tracks that i`ve heard ]
Sonata Arctica are a good band. If you like cheese check out Hammerfall
:D 8)

Amen to that. I will be posting a review of the new CD this weekend.
-
I used to be really big on power metal but its a bit shallow and boring. Another powermetal band is power quest www.power-quest.co.uk they formed when the keys + bassist left Dragonheart (as dragonforce used to be known).
I think there hasn't been anything new or creative in the power metal scene for a long time, the genre definately needs a kick up the arse.
-
the genre definately needs a kick up the arse.
HAHA - its funny because it is SoOoOoOo DAMN TRUE
-
:D 80`s style Power Metal, [Priest, Maiden, Motorhead etc] all had songs about many different subjects. This started to change with Queensryche/Manowar who started to write entire albums about one subject, not necessarily concept albums but all about one subject. At some point power metal music will return to the original 80`s idea of songs about many different subjects. & will then loose alot of the Cheese overtones !!!
:D 8)
-
Haha I quite like Sonata Artica but I laughed at this video.
I LOVE Dragonforce and the MP3 didn't work :(
-
i really like Heart of a Dragon. the rest of the album wasn't as good though. but then i'm not exactly a fan of shred.
-
I'm sorry but cheese came from the 80s and wore Spandex....
-
Yeah, alright, the lyrics are pretty dire, but I can't get enough DF. I just enjoy the sound of widdling from time to time. Go to the Sounds & Vids page if you don't find the mp3 with that link.
The song is perhaps a bit similar to most off the last album, although it does have an interesting intro.
